However, Roma are standing firm on their valuation of the Netherlands international and are demanding €45m (£40m). Bollocks. That's the classic invented rumour just so Roma supporters won't sleep well. Today is Strootman, tomorrow Manolas, the next day it will be Nainggolan. The seeds of discord.

If Mahrez did end up at Roma he could easily have a great season and be sold for £100m+ within a year. Leicester is reluctant to sell Mahrez to an English rival. Besides, as much as they want £50m, they understand that ultimately the Algerian wants out.

He's putting a shift in during training and doesn't look like he's going to be downing tools to force a move.

He still has three years left on his contract so despite him wanting out it shouldn't mean your club can dictate the price to us. We're only letting him go because he wants to leave not because we want the money. I don't think there would be anyone unhappy at Leicester if Mahrez didn't get sold this window apart from Mahrez obviously. Remember we are reluctant sellers in all of this so we'll only sell at a price that we deem acceptable. We shouldn't be taking the best price of the bad offers.

SaporeDiMahrez Posted 9 August 2017 Posted 9 August 2017 Ultimately it comes down to Leicester being ok with keeping an unhappy player or not.

Maybe you should take your €30m and buy another top seven 2016 Balon d'Or player. I hear Bale might be available now you've missed out on Neymar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballon_d'Or_2016

SecretPro Posted 9 August 2017 Posted 9 August 2017 I'm told a deal with Coventry is being tied up as we speak. A few issues over players wage demands and add-ons but I'm told a fee in the region of £2.90

He would shake off any disappointment pretty fast. His goal has always been Barca. Any move he makes will be about getting him that dream transfer. Right now he might see Roma as a better step towards that than staying at Leicester. If that door closes for him he'll switch to the next best option, playing out of his skin and getting a better offer the next time the transfer window opens.

It does but Mahrez has more to lose than Leicester City. Mahrez performed to an almost Messi like standard in his breakout season of 2015/16. He was a shadow of himself the season after but even so he's shown enough flashes even last year to show he is a player of world class ability on his day. If he had performed in 2016/17 like he did the season before he'd be off to a club like Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid or Man Utd. It's his poor season last year why a club like Roma has a chance of getting him as the really big clubs don't know if he's a one season wonder or not. If Mahrez under performs again then maybe even Roma wouldn't want him. If he stays at Leicester and under performs then maybe no one will want him, for the sake of his own career he'll need to get back to his level again that made him one of the best players in the world.
Ric Flair Posted 9 August 2017 Posted 9 August 2017 I love how the Italian media constantly say we want £40 million when it's been made quite clear it's £50 million. FIFTY MILLION.

lanefox Posted 9 August 2017 Author Posted 9 August 2017 If he stays and plays to his 15/16 form he will get his move he wants whether at christmas or next summer the longer it drags on the more likely i can see him staying. like shakey said in the presser today he hasn't had to pull him aside in training to have a word with him, so i think he has realised he needs to pull his finger out to get his move
Buzzell Posted 9 August 2017 Posted 9 August 2017 He ain't going knowhere until he bags a hattrick against Arsenal on Friday and good old Wenger splashes the cash.

He performed to that standard because the whole team was play good in 15/16. Of course he couldnt live up to those standards with Vardy sitting at 0 goals for the first half of the season. You put messi in last seasons Leicester city and I guarantee you he won't play much better than Mahrez with all the tripple marking and all. However we did see a glimmer of hope for the squad by the end of the season! Vardy seems to have regained form, the acquisition of Ndidi was very beneficial as well. So who knows? Maybe next season they might surprise again.
