£70 mil buys you someone who doesn't run into blind alleys and performs to a high standard season on season

Not in Pogba's case. But I get your point. He still has things to learn and he should really stay here.

If he's good enough next this season then he'll get his big Club move. That's his target and incentive to do well.

It's that simple.

As time goes on, we should raise the asking price because it gets harder to sign a replacement. Roma can't afford him, we should just tell them now rather than humouring them.

Roma can go do one. Can we please move on and block any bowlocks from this bunch of merchant bankers.

1 Serie A title is still 1 more than what Arsenal will ever be able to achieve in the next 5 years.

Going to admit, unless we are about to rejoin the Roman Empire again, I'd be pretty impressed if Arsenal did win the Serie A title!

I'm not putting a price on his head but if courtinio doesn't go to Barcelona (for around 100m) then maybe mahrez would be a good cheaper option for them, they need to sign someone ????

If he stays and plays like he's been playing this preseason we may well be challenging for Europe.

He can have his move in the summer, at that point. Perhaps January.

If no one moves in for him this window then its only in his best interest to perform to high standard (which he can) to get his dream move next year, last year should be a lesson learned.(even thought it wasn't just him that didn't turn up)

That's up for debate as it is dependant on the bigger clubs faltering. Roma are a club who will always be in the shadow of Juve, Inter, AC for example. I just think he is of a higher Calibre than settling for a team which is maybe a step up rather than going the full flight of stairs to the next level.

Personally if he goes to Italy Imo the best move for him would be Lazio.

Where the moment he has a bad game or doesn't track back the fans stab him to death.

Sounds much more fun than roma and a bigger club.

Can't believe they've bid that for Coutinho. I honestly think Mahrez is better, or at least on par.

They are both as inconsistent as each other mind

Let's be serious about this so your moving to London and your options are Arsenal or Millwall it's a no contest. So you have the option of going to Rome. Why the fvck would you go to roma.

Because no one in Rome actually likes Lazio. True Romans are all Roma fans. It's more like comparing West ham and Crystal Palace, rather than Arsenal and Millwall.

Lazio a bigger club than Roma? Nope. And shocking fans, both in attitude and attendance.

Roma aren't a bigger enough club for Riyad in these circumstances.

Sounds like his attitude is going downhill. It's a very unsettling period for Mahrez, if he doesn't go he knows he has to perform or he could fail to ever fulfil his dream.

Downhill?  I just read in the Daily Fail that Shaky said Riyad has not given him a single problem yet hence why he will be starting on Friday.

I only took that view from the post I quoted. I'm not saying it is the case and I certainly hope it isn't true.

I'm expecting Riyad to play his heart out in the next few games. I somewhat suspect he has got one eye on the Barca vacancy, slightly unrealistic as it may be.

There's must be a reason why none of the big teams in this country want him for the money being quoted and really only roma have made a sizeable offer. Maybe other teams just don't see how he can play in their systems as it's been shown he's brilliant in a counter attacking side where he's given a bit of time to run at out of position defenders, but also been shown that he can be pushed out of the game by midfield orientated teams, which the premier league is dominated with. There's not many teams that play like us when we play well and maybe he just works in our system and other managers see that.

I see yorkie's point but I don't necessarily agree. A player who can beat the man infront of him is valuable in any set up. The problem here is that he feels he has to beat at least three before looking up. In a more possession based system he would release space for others by taking out at least one defender. He would also feel under pressure to release the ball earlier to 'more technically capable' team mates than he has here.

Imo, PL clubs are watching to see how cheaply they can get him for. Letting Roma do the donkey work is better for them. If he starts the season well Chelsea or Arsenal will definitely come in for him. If he looks uninterested then they may bide their time till January.
