As for your edit, I can name a lot of players who are free to not defend as much, like: hazard, coutinho, mata, Silva and ozil....etc.

No I’m saying what would be the point of signing someone who merely fits on the bench when they have capable players in their incredible youth set up. 

 

Theyve branched out the last last few seasons to sign back up players and most of them are already looking to leave. 

 

They either sign superstars or blood youngsters, Riyad is neither.

 

Anyway you completely ignored the part where I said I’d be incredibly proud of Barca signed a leicester player. If you’re going to come on here and be the way you are don’t just focus on negatives, I was trying to be balanced, give it a go

My bad there, I acknowledged that statement but I didn't want to talk about it because it was a thing that we both agree on :thumbup:

I want him to do well and develop, I want to be proud of where he ends up, this is someone who joined us in the championship  lol it’s an amazing story.... I just don’t think he’s right for Barca, and he could create more of a legacy for himself by being a little more realistic

Would much rather he stays, one of the greatest players in the history of this club and that's why I want the team to sign new quality players, the window of becoming a top 8 team is starting to close, the club's already has problems with attracting great players and losing riyad won't help.

When does he defend then? I didn't see much of it on Friday.

Not sure about that. Algeria, though a relatively poor country still has a population of 40 million and a potentially decent market. Croatia has a population of 4 million and Uruguay just 3.5 million but they have Rakitic and Suarez and they have them because they are brilliant footballers which suggests that maybe they don't think Mahrez is good enough to be a Barca player. I don't think the economic element is much of a factor to be honest.

Paulinho is a totally different position to Riyad though? It's no secret that Barca's need another DM, and I'm sure it's also common agents with existing players/the club. 

 

Riyad getting or not a bid is not because he is Algerian, it might be that they think he is overpriced, doesn't fit their needs (they have switched to more of a 4312 now with Messi behind), or just genuinely they aren't interested. Or maybe they are. Dembele seems to be the priority target at the moment. 

 

I for one would like Riyad to stay but he's gotta sort his head a little, he was too fragile on Friday and if teams see he can be bullied, he'll become even more targeted and ineffective. Not good for him or us
