crisp packet Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 So much anger in this thread. But everyone loves Leo fickle as fcuk!!

Not with that body frame. FT though... His job is to be a nuisance, not let the ball carrier roam (too much) free and eventually intercept a pass. But these numbers should at least kill the myth that he doesn't track back.
Legend_in_blue Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 If he doesn't turn up at the weekend, it won't be long before sections of the crowd start laying into him. His performance was unacceptable vs Arsenal. A repeat of that and fans won't stand for it. Shakey ought to drop him but he won't.
volpeazzurro Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 If he doesn't drop Marhez and Morgan soon I think the crowd may well start to turn on Shakespeare too. In Morgan's defence I still believe that he has a place with us. I just think that having had a bad back injury he's been bought back in a little too quickly.
Clever Fox Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 I'd say a lot of his trouble is he's pissed off from being cut adrift out wide with no support. He gets none from Simpson and on Friday Vardy had to come right across to the right and try and offer assistance. This is crazy in my opinion. he needs someone playing closer to him. That's why I'd go with Albrighton behind him to provide that support. Then just bring in Chilwell or Gray on the left or both if it was me. We'd be stronger going forward and defensively.

He has only one good season with the club, other than that, he was average. So i'm wondering, maybe have we seen last season the true Riyad ? It's a test of cs. He should drop mahrez on form. That will send the right msg to mahrez, his agent and any sniffers. Playing him to show love has not worked. We carried him on friday. Is shakey tough enough?

I think so about sections got our fans start coving their anger towards not Mahrez but CS with his unrealistic and feeble subs and tzctics by dropping points and games week in week out hope not but it seem true as we tasted from that flavor last Friday

Mahrez is in that tier of players, which is just below the elite in modern football. £50,000,000 is still cheap in comparison to what you could buy. Time will tell. If he were in that tier of players he would have been sold by now. Clearly, the rest of the elite clubs in the world don't share either your or a lot of Leicester fans overblown hero worship of him. Since the title winning season, he has been bang average as have a lot of our players from that season. The rest of the world outside of Leicester fans obviously don't think he's worth a 50 million punt and neither do I.

Most of us assume he dreads an injury ending his chance of a move. Obviously digging out 50/50 balls is not where his physical makeup, nor his value lays. But he has to look like a confident PL player to keep top clubs' interest. Didn't Shakey hire the damned psychologist back?
lcfc81 Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 Think we need to show Mahrez the love against Brighton, He may be a maverick in some respects, but someone should have snapped him up by now. As it stands they haven't and I am delighted about that. We should show him how much we appreciate him playing for LCFC and how much we want him to stay, I remember reading once it was a factor in O'Neil turning down Leeds (?) in favor of staying with us. Probably the most gifted of our title winner (if not the most consistent). 'We want you to stay, we want you to stay Riyad Mahrez we want you to stay'.

Devonfox1884 Posted 14 August 2017 Posted 14 August 2017 I'm getting tired of this now. I want a settled side with players who want to be at the club, that means Riyad and Leo need to go. Maybe Gray too, but I don't think his problem is with being at Leicester, it's his game time. I want to see players moved on that will put our league win behind us and help us move forward - Simpson, Morgan, Fuchs etc. This needs to be their last season, we need to evolve - this side has so much potential if the right personnel are bought in to replace certain title winners. Vardy (with Nacho waiting in the wings), Albrighton, Kasper, Wilf, Drinky, Maguire, Gray - we have such a good core of the squad with a lot of potential waiting to be realised in some of these players, I want to see them with better players around them - I want us to have more than one way of playing. We are crying out for an overhaul so we can enter a new, very exciting era. Riyad leaving could be the start of that, as hard as it would be to take.

If he was World Class then we'd have more than Roma wanting him. Nobody wants him for £50mill because he ain't worth that. The only World Class player we've had in recent years is Kante. Explain then the Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappé's "world Class" status after only one good season? Mahrez had a much better 2015/16 season and won all the accolades (also did it an average team as compared to AS Monaco) and still none of the "big teams" showed up.

Notice the correlation? Thry are all French. French media just hypes their players and clubs fall for it time and time again.

While I agree, "average team" is a bit over the top. By no means Leicester is a big team, but that 2015-2016 team had 3-4 great players surrounded by a quality supporting cast, you don't win the league by being average!

We've all got our own definitions. A World Class player, to me, is someone who delivers season after season and also on every stage. We werent 'average' either. You can't be average and win a 30+ game season. Mahrez was one of four/five players that were outstanding for us. Vardy scored 20+ goals for us, and 16 again last season, but I wouldn't call him World Class. I'd call Kante World Class though. The lad was superb for us (and allowed Mahrez to have a sort of free role) and then superb for Chelsea. Two different teams, two league titles. That's impressive.

They could be one season wonders too. If Mahrez was world class he wouldn't have played so badly last season. If he was world class, top teams would be queuing up to sign him at £100m+. In case you haven't noticed only Roma have made an offer and that was for less than half of Gylfi nothing special siggurdsson.
foxfanazer Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Nobody can honestly think he's world class. He has the technical ability of a world class player but as @Fox92 said it's about delivering season after season and single handledy winning games when your team isn't performing
