I love Mahrez mate, I want him to stay and I can't believe some the rubbish he's getting but I'm just saying I don't think it's about race!

More than 3 and a half years in this club, since when he was a work horse? Since when he put a crushing tackle? I can post at least 10 gifs of him doing some great defensive moves vs arsenal, 5 gifs of him having to put a 40-50 yard lung bursting runs to track back! And I can also put many gifs of Marc, simmo and fuchs just falling asleep on defence. Before any triggered person here calls me out for being a fanboy, I gave him a 5 in the match ratings, I admit he had a disastrous first half and you can even say that thier 3rd goal was his fault! If only he was as defensive as his Algerian fans are.

If he was World Class then we'd have more than Roma wanting him. Nobody wants him for £50mill because he ain't worth that. The only World Class player we've had in recent years is Kante. Agreed, he is not world class but he has moments of being world class...big difference.

I read an article recently by a sports physcologist titled "what percentage of sport is mental and what percentage is physical". It read "If we confine the parameters to players at the elite level, and to analyze players during game day performances only, 90% of their performance is down to mental attitude". His head and heart ain't in it imo, get rid before it starts to have a effect on others around him.
justfoxes Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Mahrez had an amazing season our title winning season he tore up the place he showed more talent in a city shirt that some have never witnessed before at our great club, But last year for some reason it's like he just faded into the shadows ! Some games we got glimpses of what he is capable of and then some it's as if he forgot what he was capable of as if his mojo had been lifted from him, he has the talent to be a world beater but most of the time he just wandered aimlessly like a rabbit in headlights ! Just one too many step overs or trying to beat one more man too many, some have said on here he's just been moping about like a spoiled child but whatever the reason for his lack of form Shaky needs to find out why because as he's been performing of late he's not going to do us any good with his poor performances and he's not likely to find a suiter for his talents if he keeps performing poorly, so Riyad pull your socks up lad and work for a move show them what magic you can do and keep the moping for when you get home !!

Additionally our defense isn't solid with 4, let alone getting court either side or with both full backs attacking. You say an attacking full back will help Mahrez game, but even when he has switched sides to the left with Fuchs or Chillwell behind him he has looked shit. Where ever he goes they better bulk him up because he is appearing more and more lightweight, possibly because he isn't committed in challenges to avoid injury

Leicester have yet to give Roma and official response. Mahrez agent is trying to mediate between the 2 clubs by telling Roma to offer some more money in the form of bonuses to get the deal done. Leicester have been holding out for 40m pounds for non-English clubs and 50m pounds for English clubs. Roma here's an ultimatum for you. It's either £50m or **** off. Capish?

We are yet to see what an overlapping RB can do, just buy one and if i t doesn't work out, just get Back to simmo, easy as that. As for your point about him playing in the left side, his strength is cutting inside and shooting and he can't do that with his weak foot. I hope he stays, he is frustrating at times but the team didn't buy his replacement. Just try to get a box to box and a RB and see what happens, at least when he goes, the team will be stronger.

Entirely agree about gray and would welcome the speedy arrival of Townsend. No, I disagree with this. Mahrez has never, in all his time at City got full blown into a tackle. It just isn't him. I can just about accept (though, I can't agree) to the frustration shown due to his lack of influence on a game. However, his apparent lack of tackles - that's always been an issue (if you can call it that). Personally, I do not want to see Mahrez flying into tackles ever.

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 The thing is he's in an impossible position. Since he shot his mouth off, any indifferent performance will be thrown at him as being lazy, half arsed etc. He won't be granted the benefit of doubt or be excused for being off form. So he needs to be blinding every game or feck off. Which is most likely?

We used to have an overlapping fullback in De Laet. And we used to concede down that side far more than we do now.

Guest Col city fan Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 If the club is destined to sell Mahrez, can we PLEASE sign a central midfielder who can just put their foot on the ball, keep it for a while, slow it down when we are under pressure and play a sensible pass to a team mate? Please? We are so bloody uncool in possession of the football, it's unreal.

I know he gets stick but getting his foot on the ball and keeping it simple is what he does.
Babylon Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 We have CM's who can do that, there are just too many people in the team who aren't like that. You get a better cm, he's still going to end up passing to Albrighton, Simpson, Morgan, Okazaki, Vardy who aren't good at that and he's still going to be in a team where everyone runs away from the person with the ball, rather than giving them support and creating space for a pass.

ramadaone Posted 13 August 2017 Posted 13 August 2017 Has anyone got access to the players stats for Arsenal in relation to the distance they ran individually ? Know he is in the team to make things happen going forward but would be interested to see what sort of shift he put in generally

It's shit. 3-2 at a place like Arsenal we should be looking to retain the ball, instead we're still player that awful ball over the top and Kasper constantly stupidly knocking it long. King should have come on, not Iheanacho. King is the master of playing it sideways and back.
