Amartey to Stuttgart

I don't get the hate for Amartey - he doesn't set the world alight but he's alright in his various positions, useful to have on the bench as a spare body or a starter in an injury-crisis situation. I think people are mistaking him for Musa, who is thoroughbred dogshit

Will some one please come in for Rudkin and his 'recruitment' Team.  That would solve more than shipping out young players that may one day come good.  Look how we are handling this young Hirst situation? Straight out of AS Roma's Transfer strategy manual.

Amartey is not a PL standard footballer.

He has a lovely smile and all the physical attributes to develop into a solid centre back, I'd keep him but I do think it's a waste of time playing him at RB and CM.

He is only 22 and has some good physical attributes.

He's one of those players that isn't that great now but he might have a bit of a eureka moment in his mid 20's.

Agree.

He needs to add more 'steel' to his game.

Get stuck in, be committed and not hesitant.

Sometimes lacks the determination to be a better player, which is probably down to lack of confidence or experience.

Perhaps not, but he's versatile and can be helpful in seeing a game out. I'm not saying he's great, I'm saying he's not terrible like some people make out and I wouldn't be eager to sell him unless we bulked the squad out a bit - and it doesn't look like we're genuinely being linked with anyone at the moment.

Oh my god yes. I long wanted him to be played at center back and be a success but he's clearly not fancied there and seems to have about as much footballing awareness as Schlupp.

Sack him off and bring in a proper right back to compete with Danny. Take your pick from basically any Bundesliga team outside the top 3 or 4. Does anybody with a scouting system as good as ours want Benny while we're at it?

He's not really versatile. Being shoved in different positions as a plug doesn't make you a versatile footballer. James Milner is versatile, he can actually fill a fair few positions to a good standard.

Literally zero need to sell.

What do we gain from selling him? A bit of profit? He's a man that can come of the bench to fill 3 positions relatively comfortably.

If Stuttgart wanted to loan him it would be a bit different but we'd still need to replace him.

I only care who is coming in.

Amartey,  Musa and Ulloa.. Bin!

They're not good enough!

Make room for some upgrades at least!

I'd keep him, certainly over some others. You have to remember he hasn't come from a background where he played structured Football from a young age. So he's having to play catch up, and seems like a slow learner.

With the right Coaching and help, he could be a terrific player as he has all of the other attributes required.

If if meant bringing in a quality attacking right back as a different option then so be if. If we aren't going to replace him then there is no point.

Another Walsh wonder kid.

Who will probably go on to carve out a fine career for himself someone else like all the others that were misused or not given enough time (Keane, Kane, Lingard, Wood, Kramaric... etc). They might not work out here, but there certainly haven't been many that have got something about them.

What does that say about us that we have seen that level of talent evaporate.

or maybe they just didn't do it in training, as somebody once said!,

You hit the nail on the head there. That's all he is, a spare body that can slot into a variety of defensive positions. As a body in there he is OK because he is athletic, but he seems to jog everywhere and is always 1/2 second behind the play. As a spare body, OK, but at our level, we should be expecting more than that, we need footballers.
