Scotch Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 Being Scottish and living in Scotland, I've saw quite a bit of him. He's not a bad player, never quite stood out for me. Seems to have a bit of a cult following at Celtic, they like him. He does always seem to have niggling little injuries that keep him out of the team though. Celtic are very short at the back though and their fans are screaming out for them to sign a CB so I don't imagine they will be keen on selling one.

Unless you want to spend the whole season watching Morgan or Huth.

It's not about 'immediately', clearly Wes & Huth looked past it last season so we need 1st choice centre backs, and we've had all summer to get them. We've got one, now I'd like another. I don't and never will understand the idea behind bringing in backup players that don't actually improve your starting 11. The aim should always be to upgrade and progress.

We've clearly tried hard to get a defender in. We've supposedly had bids for Evans, Gibson, Smalling and Chambers turned down. We're under 8 hours to go until the window shuts, a cheap 4th choice defender that's happy to sit in the reserves is preferable than playing someone like Ndidi at centre half. Go again in January to get another centre half in. It's also disgusting how much flack Morgan and Huth take on here.

Morgan and/or Huth should be back up to Maguire and a new CB. I think most were hoping for a new first choice CB last season, which didn't materialise. Look at Hernandez, Wague and Benalouane (I know he was signed before), they didn't exactly pan out. No point signing a player for the sake of it.

As for the others well hell if I know why it didn't work, but when I see what Swansea and West Brom are lately bringing in, I do wonder... We already have Molla Wague as 4th choice. Why would we overload ourselves with another third rate defender? Morgan and Huth ain't taking flak, they're past their best and it's time for an upgrade. Period. That's how football works. Unless you want to stagnate and then wonder why the best players want out.
