I've always preferred Blur to Oasis.

Same... Oasis first album was decent, Champagne Supernova was a banger, but Blur were much the better band. I bought the cassette single of Country House in the great singles war of 1995.

Premier League footballers deserve every penny they earn. I find the lazy bitterness towards working‑class millionaire footballers unpleasant.

It’s odd how you never hear the elites/educated middle classes criticise movie actors or Formula 1 drivers for getting paid too much.

Indeed. I've not heard the same argument used so much against film stars, famous musicians either.

Blur are better than Oasis.

Blur re-invented with every album, Oasis didn't. Listen to all Oasis albums and generally they sound the same.

I'd say that oasis reached a peak blur couldn't though blur were better longevity of creativity wise.

I bought roll with it over country house but, looking back, both were shite. Some might say (and the b side talk tonight) was proper class.

Definitely.  Although Pulp managed to be better than both of them without even trying.  X

The Verve were always the best.

To be honest at the time (and I was about 15) I loved Pulp, Blur, Carter USM, Shed 7 and didn't really like Oasis and The Verve.  Too "manly" for me.  Looking back 90% of it is absolute sh1te, embarrassing but will always love it as it was "mine".  I must admit Oasis and The Verve have grown on me as I have aged but I think it is nostalgia more than anything.  I lost touch with music in 2006 and now just sit in the dark listening to Scott Walker, Phil Spector, The Big O, Gene Pitney, Roger Whittaker's Christmas album and Dexys Midnight Runners.  It's a sad existence but I like the warmth of a routine.   X

I don't think that's true. The quality of each Oasis album definitely followed a downward trend, but nothing on the first album would fit stylistically on the second, the third was a rehash on coke, but you can still follow a progression through the best songs on each album (Gas Panic, importance of being idle, I'm outta time, Falling down). They aren't songs that would have belonged on their predecessors.

Blur may have changed after each album, but there's no obvious sense of improvement either. There is no way Great Escape is progress from Parklife, 13 is definitely less interesting than Blur, and anything after Think Tank has been a waste of time.

Both great bands, giving slightly different things to their fans. Two brilliant albums each and a whole pile of great songs.

Always loved Oasis, never that bothered about Blur but find myself playing Pulp the most these days.

Seem to play the songs below on a regular basis.

Do you remember the first time?

The Filet-o-Fish is actually one of the best things on the McDonalds menu. Love it!

Oh my, I thought I was the only one. But you have to watch a dozen people get served first before it's ready.
