ramboacdc Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 The indications are that the device at Parsons Green was designed to kill and maim a large number of people and that it failed to explode properly (similar to the failed 21/7 devices in 2005). Explosives experts say it appears to have been a "deflagration" rather than a detonation, which would have killed everybody next to it.
Jon the Hat Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 Well I hope those on the train get the help they are going to need to get over the fact that they a design flaw away from death.
Jon the Hat Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 I wonder if he was going somewhere else to set it off..

Merging Cultures Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 I hadn't heard of Four Lions before. Quite amusing.
Turbogre Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 Absolute cowards. Is it just me, or am i not surprised in the slightest something like this has happened again? I've become accustomed to things like this now.

But yes could have been going anywhere! As the post above says, it's easy to make comments like this when no one has died or been seriously injured... but this is proper four lions! Literally someone making a bomb in a lidl bag filled with christmas tree lights....

Apparently it was attached to a timer and looking at it, it looks like it could just have been left unattended (?) You'd imagine it was destined for Westminster or Victoria, or Paddington if it was headed for Edgware Road
Wymsey Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 It's very sad - hope none of the victims are in a life-threatening condition. It's rather really surprising that this type of incident has occurred, considering the 7/7 bombings. Quite a shocking eye-opener really..
foxy boxing Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 It was an IED - improvised explosive device! amazing that no one was killed. I really hope they get the scumbag and shoot first and ask questions later!
lifted*fox Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 Been in London the last 2 days for an awards thing and just got back. I point blank refused to use the underground so yesterday I walked from King's Cross to Islington and then from Hackey to King's Cross today. Obviously took a while longer to walk but I got to see some of London and I dunno, I just had a bad feeling about the trains this week. Wouldn't have been anywhere near this line but did feel kinda like my decision to walk was justified when I heard about this.

Judging by how incompetent this was and luckily there seems to be so little injury surely catching this muppet would yield better answers... 8 minutes ago, lifted*fox said: Been in London the last 2 days for an awards thing and just got back. Having lived in London for nearly 20 years: 1. you just get on with it. 2. you're normally shielded by someones armpit anyway as it's like a can of sardines. 3. keep calm and never make eye contact with anyone.

Yeah, that's all good fam but I ****ing hate our underground system anyway. Dirty, hot little ****ing sweat-box. If I'm in London for work I'm using Uber if it's too far to walk / raining and walking if it's within an hour. Shame we can't have a decent ****ing metro system like Hong Kong - funny because IIRC we actually designed the HK metro system and it's significantly more advanced than our own.
Finnegan Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 I'm pretty sure I remember getting a phone signal on the HK metro. Magic. Can't even do that in Tokyo. This was like seven odd years ago too.

Stadt Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 Tbf most underground lines are really fvcking old
Alf Bentley Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 2 hours ago, MattP said: Hmmmmmmm... It was all a terribly unfortunate accident. He'd been to the Chelsea Flower Show to buy a bucket of organic compost for his allotment. Coming home to Islington on the Tube, a few droplets of his beard lotion dripped into the bag and reacted with the compost. In the combustible atmosphere of gaseous emissions from commuter armpits, the outcome was sadly inevitable.

I am not there today mind you, and would have been clear by the time that tube got there anyhow.
urban.spaceman Posted 15 September 2017 Posted 15 September 2017 So it was only a Lidl explosion then?
