Appleton - Good cop or bad cop?

Recommended Posts

Seems to have gone under the radar a little bit.

Today was some of the, if not the worst football I've seen from Leicester City in well over a decade. That speaks volumes after some of the s**t served up under CR during the championship hangover.

I'm not saying Appleton is to blame but I don't really know what to make of him. I always felt confident that Shaky was doing a good job as assistant but I have no idea if Michael is highly regarded by the players or not. When I first saw him I was quite optimistic that he'd be a bit of a military take no shit type but he just seems to blend into the background.

I'd like to see someone really grab the squad by the balls and give them a good shake. NP was obviously a natural as this and CS could play more of a good cop while NP was offering headbutts in his office.  Now CS is playing the good cop as manager and I really feel we need some one being a bit of a nasty bastard and telling them what they don't want to hear.

a bad cop is a waste of time and money, just force the players to come on this forum after a disappointing match, they’ll soon get the idea!

You make quite a good point about the military type man.i was watching him take a training session out my attic window on Wednesday and he was screaming at them effing and jeffing At them and putting them through there paces with drills on a large scale.so from what I saw I would say he doesn’t take no shit from them he demands respect and they all shown it to him.they look at good unit in training laughing, joking and generally still have that tight nit unit they had during the title winning season.so somethings a miss question is what???

The job he did at Oxford was good but before that I always thought he was a bit of a joke - he managed three clubs, within a short pace of time, for a little periods.

Pointless analysing him. We were showing all these bad signs before he came.

Shakespeare takes responsibility for our tactics and it's him who has to command respect, not the assistant.

In my experience in man management you have to earn respect.

Crikey can't wait till the next thread when the Muppets are blaming poor form on the big bouncer that goes around with the players

Loving these scapegoat threads, when I saw the first one I definitely thought the forum needed more of these

Ive been thinking this for a time. Shakey is the nice 1 , Appleton with his tattoos and muscles in his shit is the the bad cop. Thats just a guess on my part, no idea if its true.

Weve really had the worse possible  draw to start the season. We need to start seeing some positive football, if not wins, if Shakeys going to keep his job.

What’s he doing in your attic?

Of course he has to scream - how else would he be heard from your attic?

In short, tell him to get out of you attic and change the locks.

Nothing like the blame game.

Has anybody actually taken on board how we set up? ,we play a so called  4-4-2 that simply doesn't work for numerous reasons.

We get so over run in midfield that the likes of Okazaki has to drop back and support the midfield , Marc Albrighton also has to cut in to support the midfield which makes us so bloody narrow that he becomes a nothing player .

Because of that we have created a monster, we have 2 outlet balls, 1. Hit it long to Vardy, 2. Give it to Mahrez, who then In turn is Man marked by 2 players which in all makes us so 1 dimensional that we can predict every game what's going to happen.

I mentioned earlier that I think  player power is having a big impact on Shakespeare's tactics, if this is right then he will be out of the door in no time.

Recruitment has been very strange again , we sign these players yet they don't play, work that out , all I know is something ain't right.

Don’t know about bad cop good cop but at times today he looked rather pissed off shouting at someone on the pitch Nostrils a wee bit flared, wouldn’t want to be whoever it was on the bus ride or plane ride back to Leicester !!

He should be threatening headbutts for misplaced passes. Truth is our coaching team isn't at the level we want. Stowell somehow seems to have a higher role when he, the goalkeeping coach, doesn't tell Schmeichel how to set up a wall and was happy with our attacking threat in a preseason game where we had about 2 shots vs a league 2 team.
