gerrytaggart Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Deserves every penny of his £9M payoff. Good luck Shakey.
SheppyFox Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Good luck learning the trade elsewhere snakespeare
Captain... Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 I'm as gutted that Craig's gone as I was when Claudio and Pearson went. He has been instrumental to this club's success, we'll just have to see if they will be proved right this time.
Chico1958 Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Thanks for the success of keeping us up and Best of Luck for the future success
Suzie the Fox Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Brought a tear to my eye. Good luck for the future Craig xx

" "Drinkwater is my main concern, he thinks he's Scholes and dictates play spraying the ball around picking it up off the centre backs, when we actually need him to be a driving force." "I'm sorry but Drinky was by far our least effective midfielder, and that is coupled with the same in the last game too. Yes, it is early but the warning signs are there. He needs to be more dynamic and move more. Show him a tape of 2013/14 and tell him to get back to that." but people think things would've been so different had he stayed Fair comments, but shipping out DD and Mendy and screwing up the Silva signing was not ideal. Then we lose James and look what we are left with? However, I am still not convinced Shakey is PL Management material and tactically he got some things terribly wrong.

Good managers adapt and try something new, CS fell on his sword (the tried and tested flat 442)
An Away Move Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 If it is true that he is the figure that Claudio hinted at as working against him then he really has to take this on the chin. Sometimes getting what you wished for ends up being not what you hope it would be. Live by the sword, die by the sword. That said, all the best to him. He has been a wonderful servant to our club.
lgfualol Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Solid statement. Wouldn't call it shakey at all. Good luck Craig

Part and partial of being a football manager, sure it didnt help but he did have about £60 million of signings available to him that most clubs outside the top 6 would bite your hand off for. Er nope, they wouldn't

On form, he would currently be our best midfielder. Shakespeare had his faults, but he had very little to work with in the middle of the park this season.
HankMarvin Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Just now, Claridge said: Er nope, they wouldn't no your right no one wouldve wanted maguire or Iheanacho prior to the start of the season if they could afford them or had a realistic chance of being able to attract them

Schmeichel 1 million Jakupovic 2 million (I think) Simpson 2 million (I think) Morgan 1.5 million Maguire 17 million Benalouane 5 million Mahrez 400k Gray 3.5 million (I think) Silva 22 million Iborra 13 million (I think) Ndidi 15 million James 500k (I think) Slimani 29 million Musa 16 million Okazaki 8 million Iheanacho 25 million Vardy 1 million 171 million spent on the current squad, and those are just off the top of my head. In a business sense, you simply do not spend those sums of money if you are attempting to build slowly. The owners must be expecting top 10 at the very least, preferably Europe based on those figures. It's a shame given that I would have preferred Shakespeare was given more time and believe he would have turned it around but you can hardly blame the owners for sacking him. I think the club would have been better off making drastic changes to the staff at the club not including Shakespeare, especially the recruitment team. This whole transfer hesitation crap has got to stop and the club need to be prepared for every possibility as it just seems like the club are unprepared and possess the negotiation skills of a sloth behind the scenes. We have four or five months to prepare our targets for the forthcoming transfer window, we should be completely sorted by mid July barring any departures but we never are. It's exactly the same with managers, the logical thing to do would be to have a shortlist that is updated on a regular basis for the possibility of the manager departing and surely we should at least make sure that our number one target is interested before deciding to sack current manager. If we were prepared, our new manager would be getting announced following the weekend's game but we will be stuck in limbo for a month because certain members of the staff are incompetent. I remember an interview with Southampton's DoF Les Reed who spoke of them operating a system similar to what I have described, and let's face it, Southampton always make good managerial appointments. Pochettino, Koeman, Puel, Pelligrino. They are brilliantly ran club who just lack the ambition our owners have, I'd be looking to steal their recruitment team.

As i said before do you think the Central midfielders CS had to choose from are any worse than what Newcastle or Burnley have, as i alluded to previously he could've tried a diamond and utilised Gray. His plan B was get Andy king in
st albans fox Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Imagine we didn't sell drinkwater ................... he would still have been sacked as he hasn't been fit enough to kick a ball yet !! and 9 million - not a chance. reckon he will be lucky to walk away with 3 and I expect there were caveats re his severance should his contract be terminated early. he isn't struggling to pay the gas bill, even after half of it has gone in tax, but doubt he will be able to retire on the lifestyle he is used to!!

Little by little my love for the club is dwindling. Hate these kind of comments. The club is not Top, it's not Rudkin or Whelan, the club is the club and whoever are the current custodians and decision makers are doesn't change that. You can lose some respect for those in charge but your feelings for your club never change. But I digress... Best of luck CS!!!

Bollards! He was not knifed by Shakespeare you are throwing around groundless accusations and listening too much to bellends like Martin Keown who also know nothing. When he left, Claudio said that CS was a loyal assistant.
