Surprised you still care?

Football , or any sport is part of my life.

For 2-3hrs, I get into it, love the debates, build-ups, the emotions  and feel down for awhile if its a game with city/England where not so much  the result, but we dish out a desperate, turgid peformance.

But thats it, its part of my life, nothing more.

I care, I follow, I support, no matter where we are, dreams broken, means new dreams with different paths can and does open the thought to new hope re-kindled.

A few stupid threads around at the moment, like the Iborra one, but congratulations, this one is definitely the dumbest.

You gotta love international breaks!

Whilst I am aware its a very 'international break'  thread, surely the variety of responses would contradict your above post.

Sadly... I think it’s the game of football I care less for.

It’s just not the game I grew up with and adored. To be overly dramatic, our title win could be the last significant act of a once great game?

I did wonder once we had won the league if my interest would start to properly dwindle, but I think there are certain fundamentals in the whole sport that keep me coming back and I don't think I'll ever truly lose it.

Even last year, just think back to Stoke away when Amartey scored. We've won the league, are an absolute shambles yet pinching a point at Stoke can still bring a feeling I can't describe.

Still care, it's not as important to get a result as it was in the Premier League winning season obviously, but I've still not missed a minute of us playing football since then and it still upsets me when we don't play as we can.

I do hope we don't become one of these mid-table clubs though just happy to pocket the PL money whilst finishing between 10th-16th every year, that would see me lose some interest, I'm sure of it, let's have a damn good go at the cups as well and have more trips to Europe - winning an FA Cup would be fantastic and we've got a squad capable of doing it.

Amazing we expect footballers to be motivated and up for it 100% every week whatever the opposition when some of us can't do it as fans.

The last couple of months of our season really did it for me. Constantly always on my mind and I'm probably not the only one to lose sleep over it. I was in some sort of twilight zone and the games became torture almost wishing the club hadn't put me in this position  Thank fuch we didn't blow it as I don't think I could've psychologically recovered from it.

Took a lot out of me and last season was just about recovery. I think they did incredibly well to stay up given what had happened.

Thankfully the old fire in the belly is returning. The bad press we got for Shakeys sacking and the 'know your place' articles has helped to get my mojo back. Still some way to go but I think the new management structure has been the new brush that was needed. I really don't want to lose anymore of the Immortals but sometimes I think that's what's needed for us to move on.

I'm glad last season is done, we had the Champions League run which was so memorable and unexpected and I think now we can settle back into trying to challenge for the top 8. Just hoping that Puel is the right fit for a while and we can avoid the hysterical nonsense that we've had since Ranieri left.

This is so true, remember those few months towards the end of the 15/16 season, I couldn't sleep at times, checking the league table five times a day, the fixtures to see where we would drop points and where Spurs could. I think it might have taken a few years off our lives, worth it though.

I do try and think how we would feel if we hadn't done it, as you say I don't think I'd ever manage to get over it, would we have even less desire than we do now? Finishing second would then have been the pinnacle and we would have had none of the celebrations to hark back to.

It wasn't like any other club, this was our one and only ever chance, how the players got through that pressure I'll never know, legends, how anyone can boo any one of them I don't know.

Whether we're the kings of Europe, battling to stay in the Mickey Mouse Cup or being relegated into the Football league, I will always follow, support and love this football club.

No!  I’m Leicester wherever I am and whoever I’m with.

Think of old Red Nose. He wanted it so badly every season. So do I. Deliver the fuching presents Santa. I’m counting on you.

Not as bothered about going to games any more (partly because the ballot is too confusing) but when I'm at a game / watching a game I care. Wasn't too bothered when Stoke equalised though - annoyed but meh. Doesn't ruin my weekend

I'm getting stressed now just thinking back  I remember having SSN on loop and every advert break they played Spuds fans singing We're coming for you. Worse time was the lead up to the Swansea match, which Vardy was banned from, and that was the weekend the 'experts' were slavering over as their beloved Spuds were going to close the gap and it would all change. Claudio's speech in the days before when he finally said that we were going for the title was so perfectly timed. 4-0 to the one man team and the following night Spuds could only manage a draw with WBA :D

In 2015/2016 I bounced around like a 5 year old for the first time since I was a 5 year old

I, like many others in here harp on back to the Bloomfield era and the same applies to the days when MON was at the helm

After the sheer joy and relief of Pearson keeping us up in the great escape I never thought I would see anything like 2016

But it did happen, now I want more. Why wouldn't you ?

Can anyone on here say that they wouldn't want to experience that feeling again........ Just one more time

Either a Cup Win or a Top Six finish and Europe for Little Old Leicester ................... Yep I Care

They've just shown a mini-highlights package of the Everton game on Sky Sports- just an amazing day.

I really don't think anything will top it, even if by some miracle we win it again. The unexpected nature of it all make it so much better.

I think it was such an unbelievable achievement, to me it seems completely surreal even now.

To be out of the premier league so long, just being part of it means a lot to me and I want us to stay there and prosper for years to come. It upsets me to think of the missed opportunity we had having won the title to progress and move forwards.

But I'll always care, of course. It was absolutely devastating to go down into league 1, and those horrible years between 2004 and 2008 were truly awful but I never lost the faith and was never indifferent about it.

Posted

I never cared less because we won the league, I was just bored watching the football and upset that the team didn't really carry on in the same vein. I felt the players cared less and it does sap your enthusiasm when the club plays with no ambition and makes excuses for quick regression.

Once the fans stop feeling like the team should be producing a certain standard the apathy catches on. I feel a lot of our fans have been guilty of saying 'we won the league so we'll accept anything'. And it's not possible to show true passion if you're that accepting.

People don't realise that caring sometimes equates to being angry and let down. The players and staff have let us down a lot over the past 15 months and that should make fans annoyed with them.

I used to have the rightvsrse when ever we conceded, maybe I’ve matured or just numb due to the amount of goals we’ve conceded since winning the league but it feels less tense now. Possibly because we’ve all witnessed games with such huge consequence and psychologically we all know nothing will ever compare to say Norwich or Sevilla at home.

I still care a lot, come match day nothing else matters, I get up at some ridiculous times to watch games sometimes (nothing compared to my West Coast friends!). If anything, since moving out of the country, it’s neen an anchor point to home, so that makes it that just a little bit more special. After the title season people now know who we are, in the US, that 5000-1 team is known all over, even if they don’t know our name. Was even talking to our tile guy the other day and he was talking about goosebumps when I told him the story as he remembered it when it happened. He’s even asked me to help get his son a City shirt. That makes it even more special.

Whether it’s watching on matchdays, listening online to Radio Leicester (I still need to phone in, will they call me back though?!), our growing community of US Foxes who Facebook messenger each other during games  (and some of whom have become friends for life, like @The_77) or chatting with you guys on here. It feels like family, and I’m glad that through the luck of where my Dad is from, I support this club, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Speaking of which... @shen - we are thinking of combining our trip to the UK st Xmas with a mini break and Copenhagen is up there. It would also be when we play Man City in the cup on the 19th Dec. Will let you know if we make it. Would be great to meet up to have a beer and watch the match!

You can do that anyway :) You're welcome to stay over if you come by 'sunny' Copenhagen

If we are not still here to care tgen put simply the title win would not have meant that much to us anyway. I know the whole of Leicester got on it but its only us Leicester til we die that it meant SO much to.

You can't stop caring about the team you love. it's impossible.

The only thing that gets to me is the massive amount of negativeness, which I perceive, rightly or wrongly, emanates from the the younger generation of fans. I suppose that's the way with social media, which is a fundamentally negative vehicle; it's so easy to slag the players, owners, management off, under a false name. Any delay in signing a player, announcing ticket details, upgrading the website etc., is seized upon gleefully and dissected to death.

Yes, nothing changed in my love for the club, but the so called fans, that's a different matter. We do have more than our fair share of doomsayers who seem happy when we lose and can then come out with their "I told you so's.."

Anyway, I am not surprised I still care, after 54 seasons of supporting the team, over a 1000 games, it's in your blood. If you lose interest or stop caring, then it was never really in your blood in the first place.

I'll always love Leicester City. I've never been a HUGE football fan to begin with, I can't sit here and debate about football endlessly like many of you can. My interest lies in being a fan of the club itself rather than the sport as a whole.

FPL is the only thing that really engages me in the goings on of other clubs and matches. My strategic knowledge of the sport in general is poor at best.

That's it, exactly.

I'm unable to resist when descibed as a football fan that actually I'm not, I'm a Leicester City fan. That is the difference.

It feels perilously close to the old joke about a member of a band being described as a drummer rather than as a musician......

After the league win and the champions league campaign I thought we completed football and would never reach those heights again. Therefore I wondered whether, subconciously, I would naturally care less about Leicester after seeing our fall and rise over the last 20 years.

But this season, when watching individual matches, I've cared just as much as any other season, and I'm so glad that is the case.

The Stoke game was the perfect example as it was (lets be honest) a game between two teams who will probably finish around 8th - 13th so the result is unlikely to have a massive bearing on relegation / European places. But was fuming when Mahrez didnt square it for Vardy to make it 2-0 before Stoke scored and throughout the match. The threads on here are as emotive as ever too.

Just curious to know if its the same for others on here.

Hope your not a plastic????!!!!!

Reasonable point from the OP, and I kind of see where he's coming from.

If you've just had a whale of a time banging Kylie and her sister, are you really going to get up (so to speak) the same way for the Friday night munters in the Hinckley Roxy?
