Not a fan of Jack Dee or Rosie Jones so next one might be a battle to watch. 

Thought that a few times then absolutely loved the series with those people on, so don't have any preconceived ideas. I listen to the podcast and Ed Gamble often comments on how you can't hide or pretend much on the show, so a lot of a person's true self is on show. With Dee especially I think you'll see a different side to him.

 

I'll be interested how they deal with Jones, she's obviously gonna be limited on certain things, timed tasks will be harder to mark fairly, as she'll likely be last in them all.

I think that's an absolute shocker of a line up bar Emma Sidi who is fantastic.

 

Would urge anyone not familiar to watch the Liam Williams masterpiece Pls Like on iPlayer for some of her. Annoyingly one of those series where the first episode is the worst but stick with it. Then watch Ladhood by him too, she's not in it, but it's ****ing world class.

Babatunde can actually be quite funny. I think he'll be good in the taskmaster scenario.

No. The veil of false dislike between them has long since gone, so just crack on with the show. Alex's character is quite annoying these days.

Baba was fine. I've got family links with Nigeria and work with London-based Africans. He's representative of that style of dry but positive comedy. 

 

It will be a real test of Jack Dee's ability to stay in character.

@Nalis - not really related to your ppoint which in this context is simply discussing someone's performance on Taskmaster but a more general point....

She's a subpar comedian. She's a bit crap, she's not really my bag. I'm not going to defend her, but I'm not outraged by her. For some reason (and she's an afterthought in this back and forth) her appearances on TV result in her trending, scroll through that trend and it's wall to wall morons either side. I don't think she asks to be a talking point but people choose to make her one, and I count people tripping over themselves to compliment her in that. Bit of a hiding to nothing straight away for any work she does tbh because there's already simmering opinion ready to go on social media. I don't think there's another comedian in the UK that could get such polarising opinion barely based on their actual material but more some weird culture war.

I was probably unfair to single put Rosie Jones as the whole group is awful. Has to be least entertaining or funny in TM history. It's a shame because I loved Jack Dee back in the day.

One of the reasons why she’s not funny is sadly because the punchline is too slow (not her fault obviously), so you’ve already worked it out 20 seconds before she says it.

At least Rosie is coming across as being fun which in itself is endearing. Seen her do stand up and on various shows and TM has made me warm to her. Jack Dee and his “I’m hating this” just isn’t entertaining after the first 5 mins and Babayawnde isn’t bringing anything. Favourite is the guy in the cricket outfit (can’t be bothered to find out who he is!) and the Inspector Gadget girl is also good.

It's weird cos there's another forum I look at and they're creaming themselves over this season's crew compared to here  . 

 

I think the RJ debate is so tiresome tbh. My take is that she has her moments, like most standard comedians, but it takes extra concentration and patience to focus on her getting to the punch line, which can be difficult to adapt or get used to. There's the ridiculous online reactionaries who say if you don't find her funny you're an ignorant albeist, but if she was Chris McCausland levels of funny there'd be far less criticism.

 

Not sure how this season will pan out tbh but I think whatever the case it's indicative of the C4 era - not a patch on Dave pre-covid (particularly series 1 & 7, in fact it's a crime we only got six episodes of the season one crew) but it's still an eminently watchable show.

 

And hey, at least it's not John Robins forgetting it's a comedy show and taking it super seriously.

 

The line up for Series 19 is out as filming has begun - doesn't look like a stonker.

Not sure whether it’s good form to talk about individual tasks that people haven’t necessarily seen yet so minor apologies in advance, but the doorbell task was a bad sign. That had real potential and Rosie Jones was the only one who came out with any credit for me.

I'll definitely be watching this one. I love the American guy they've got on. If true obviously.
