I can understand why they pay for yours to be fair, Half the size = half the price, right?

Check your bank account, your missus has been paying full price.

I love the idea of you taking card payments/bank transfers rather than cash in hand. I hope you've been informing the HMRC!

Quite possibly, they're part way there anyway in that software generates data and I'm just refining it,  but as yet no software exists that can do that stage and properly interpret mass spec data back into identities like a human, so I'm good until that exists.

If your job can be explained in a flow chart then a computer/robot could do it.

I'm the guy that documents jobs as flow charts to see where it can be automated. I also design elegant solutions to make people's jobs more efficient. I have never been directly responsible for people getting made redundant but I know people that have.

@Webbo probably shouldn't watch this video

When that machine can drive itself to someone's house, clear the furniture, put the dust sheets down, do all the filling and prep, paint the woodwork and tidy up after it's self I'll start to worry.

Listened to LBC last night featuring ex Dragons Den Piers Linney who basically said in the next 10 years 80% of jobs will be Ai and we need to start thinking about what jobs(If any!) we can do.

Glad i'm at the end of my career not the beginning as it all sounds utterly depressing.

Already putting thoughts into my lads head who is 12 to be a plumber but my daughter gets her GCSE results tomorrow so god knows what shes going to do...

So many industries will just not have a human workforce soon enough, think a universal basic income is a must.

Well, it's that or massive social inequality Blade Runner/The Expanse, and/or societal collapse.

When people talk about AI liability is always forgotten. We need people and businesses to take responsibility for the actions that are taken.

If we do away with all professional services because AI will do the work who will be responsible when it gets something wrong? I think this will save many professionals for a number of years yet, albeit the output of each should increase as they use AI to complete their work.

To any 16 year old, I would be looking for higher level apprenticeships or a trade over traditional university. The current higher education system is an expensive mess.

Agree with this.

Most kids going Uni do a generic degree and get a Desmond or 2.1 and end up with an overdraft in a job they could have worked up to anyway.

Things will definitely come full circle though eventually. I think at some point a main selling point for a business will be that they're fully 'AI-free' or boast a 'completely human workforce' or something like that, with people maybe paying a premium for something more authentic and human.

And more expensive.

We've seen enough sci-fi films to know that's not going to happen.

More likely we carry on this trajectory where the poor get poorer and the rich richer.

Nothing suggests we're suddenly going to become a kind society.

The technology used in Gaza will be made mainstream and used on citizens. The UK being one of the early adopters. It's already happening we just don't know it yet.

Eg facial recognition in shops already affecting innocent people. Drones used to spy on innocent citizens for really minor potential offences. The government can now help itself to money from your bank account. Next it will be businesses helping themselves. We have already got rid of the judicial system for many offences and innocent people are being charged for crimes they didn't commit as there is no avenue to appeal.

Those in charge want citizens to go to sleep afraid of bills and wake up afraid.

Very little chance of that happening.

Our whole way of living is based on the premise that you are protected by someone's actions in law.
