Definitely the loudest were from the away end but a few spread out in the Kop before people realised he was giving a shit, playing well and a motivated, confident Mahrez gives us so much threat.

Deserved ovation when substituted. Forget public "apologies", let his football do the talking.

Well yeah, the quick, direct passing already didn't work as soon as teams sat deep in the second half 2015/16 and then we lost Kanté. All they needed was to double up on Mahrez and just like that we became toothless, hoofed it like there is no tomorrow and almost got relegated.

So I'd take that Puel's boring football over the the turgid footbal under Ranieri (2017) and Shakey any day.

Don't think we hoofed to get to the quarters of the champs league. We were turgid in the leagur because we didn't have the squad to cope with so many high intensity games. Something even teams like Chelsea sturggled with after their league win.

But I do take your point, without Kante we struggled to play the killer pass/ find the runners. But that is something that a good quality midfielder should uave fixed, but we didn't invest in the midfield that year frustratingly.

The system didn't work without Kante as we didn't regain the ball outside our own penalty area.  Ngolo would get it 20 yards further upfield. This was the difference between long ball and incisive pass.

Puel has improved the team, but still a work in progress.

I don't agree with booing him and i will support the team while he is in it but too many of our fans seem to have just let him off far too easily. I know there isn't alot we can do about the whole situation and booing certainly isn't the answer but many on here seem to be saying Mahrez did nothing wrong and he was just depressed and the media were making the whole strike thing up etc etc yet Appleton said on football focus today that Mahrez apologised to his team mates. If he apologised that would suggest he has done something wrong and maybe the media weren't wrong after all. If he plays well till the end of the season then fair enough but his dis respect towards our club and fans will leave a bitter taste on what has been a fantastic time for him at our club.

As I said, our summer recruitment priority should have been to replace Kante. But Mendy didn't cut the mustard. Neither does Iborra, NDidi or Silva in my opinion. We need a gritty midfielder who breaks up the play and moves the ball quickly. Someone in the mould of De Bruyne or Erikson.

De Bruyne a "gritty" midfielder apparently

It's that easy. I expect our next summer recruitment policy should be to replace Mahrez. Insight

De Bruyne one of the top flair players in the division is a gritty midfielder who breaks up play, and Ndidi with the most tackles and something like second most interceptions isn't good enough for that lol How much did you have to drink before posting that?

I take it this is a joke. De Bruyne and Erikson are class players but not Gritty nor Kanté replacements, they're more Mahrez upgrades.

Personally think Ndidi has replaced Kanté. I'm more than happy with that as he has height and goal scoring threat on top of the defensive prowess. We have unearted a new diamond.

I could well be supporting Nigeria in the world Cup this year.

Slag him off on here, on Twitter, down the pub, with your mates etc. Don't do it during the game. Boo him next season if he's back with another club.

I disagree. Ndidi isn't even close to a Kante replacement. He can't pass for toffee. A lot of his tackles come after he himself has given away possession. I rate him highly, but he has a lot to learn (which you would expect from a player of his age).

De Bruyne and Erikson, like Kante, get the ball and move it quickly. De Bruyne tore us apart the other week, by winning the ball and knowing exactly where the runners would be, ok maybe gritty wasn't the right word but both him and Erikson are both good tacklers and are both excellent at quickly distributing the perfect ball. They are quick thinkers and can find the penetrative pass required to break down a heavily defensive team. We miss someone like that.

Mahrez is one player like that, but he is often double marked meaning he has very little space. We need someone in the middle who can do the same, this will stretch the opposition and create more space in behind for Vards.

Not drunk fellas, there is a method in the madness.

Everyone has the right to like or dislike him, not gonna judge too harshly on that but what kind of grown person actually boos?  Like, imagine the booer on his or her own, standing at home just booing at another grown person.  In there heads, do they think it's clever?  X

I can't remember Mahrez giving the ball away on Friday night. He was the most likely to unlock their defence which looked difficult for us from the beginning. He is class that's for sure and I think he put in a decent shift. Laid on the goal, and was very well supported by the fans around me.

I was saying last night how flat the place has become. The only time we get up for it is when we have a quick attack, I think that's why the place has lost its spark. I for one can't get excited or shout when all we are doing is passing the ball from RB to RCB to LCB to LB and then all the way back. In my opinion Puels style of football is killing the atmosphere.

People like you are the reason the atmosphere has become so shit.
