Right decision to sack Pellegrino. He was taking them down. Now they’ll have half a chance at staying up.

They still wouldn’t have Puel back according to the Assistant Manager of Southampton Women’s team on my Twitter, no goals at home in the last 7 games last season. They hate Pellegrini and the board and most certainly don’t want Hughes, all the money they made from their ‘feeder club’ Liverpool hasn’t gone on players. Sad times for them....

I can only think of 1 time in Premiership history that sacking your manager this late in the season has saved them from relegation, and that was Everton sacking Walter Smith in 2002 when they appointed Moyes

Honestly can't think of any other time it's worked

Well we sacked NP briefly:ph34r: and that worked, but a business model of constantly selling your best players at the end of every season and replacing them with cheaper options will eventually lead to a fall.

I will never forget how impressive we looked pre Mahrez Man City saga under Puel and how things changed overnight. We’re on the up and I’m confident he’ll build the right squad in the coming windows.

Feel the same. The future is bright. ?

I know it's not prem, but didn't Pearson save Southampton at our expense in similar circumstances, albeit a different league.

They aren't in the relegation zone, they need to do something to keep it that way any sort of reaction would be better than the insipid display against Newcastle. They will most likely appoint an interim manager, anyone with a personality will do. Get them fired up and try to arrest the slide. Their next league game is West Ham, they need to win that game as they have some tough fixtures left. It's a risky decision but not a difficult one, sack Pellegrino and maybe get relegated, or keep him on and almost definitely go down.

I’d rather see other clubs relegated tbh.

West Bromwich have been flirting with it for ages, West Ham are a fookin disgrace, to name but two.

Ive always liked how Southampton have been run.

Wasn't Paulo Di Canio at Sunderland pretty late too? Although agree with your point totally. Partly why I think West Brom haven't got rid of Pardew yet, they're doomed already

Based on previous years' performances, I actually don't mind the Saints and their academy is probably the best in the land for young English talent (so hopefully this won't be affected should they go down) but you reap the seeds you sow and, really, to sack your manager after finishing 8th and being in a cup final is sheer madness in my view.

Hopefully, them going down will teach every one else that the grass is not always greener..........

Two clichés in two  sentences (albeit one is overly long) ..... priceless! :scarf:

Apparently there is a break clause in Pardew's contract in the summer so they can ditch him for free. I think they have realised they are fvcked regardless but it will be cheaper to enact the break clause than sack him.

Actually, West Brom’s record isn’t as bad as that. Generally, they’ve finished just below mid table apart from 2013-14 when they finished 17th
