Seeing Amartey sprint down the right to make room for Mahrez to cut inside, where he promptly whipped a ball to the back post was a breath of fresh air (again). Shame we probably won't see that for a few more weeks at least.

Danny Simpson simply isn't good enough for us if we want to play possession football. Although a pretty decent defender he is shocking on the ball and offers nothing going forward.

As to why he wasn't on the bench today, we had other options. For the bench we have to cover every position, and Chilwell being able to play LB, LW or LWB would have been a better option on the bench than Simpson who can play only one position.

Danny Simpson is the best in the prem at defending down that right side but anything else he's lacking, if he was half decent at those tasks he'd be playing for the top 4. I can't understand why when we play a back 3 we use Fuchs instead of Simpson, a far better defender

Great defender but isn't really a Puel type player.

That's a good point though, shouldn't the manager play the best method with the best players he has rather than playing players not so good to suit a style he wants. We looked so much better playing not to the puel style in the second half today

Also a good point.

I just hope we finish the season well enough to let him have a proper go next season, changing your manager and style during the season is less than ideal.

As others have said, Simpson wasn't injured. Not a happy bunny with being left out of the 18.

Hardly a revelation is it. Premier league player gets the arse because he's dropped!

Anyway, I'm glad. He drove down the bus lane at speed the other day on Lutterworth Road and made me miss my opportunity to get out of Marsden Lane!

Arrogant man!

Who cares really? Both him and his buddy Wes are on borrowed time. Both not good enough anymore for the way the club wants to play football. He was absolutely dross against Stoke and deserved dropping.

I thought he was one of the worst performers today. Others like Albrighton did their job (although badly at times), Simpson neither attacked nor defended. He was too high up to defend (was caught out a lot last week as well), and is way too limited to attack.

I can't see him staying past the Summer window. I like him a lot, but he simply cannot be a starter for us next season.

Have backed him in the past but since his injury he has been dire and seems to play like a kid with a chip on his shoulder.

He has always been limited

Doesnt really know how to attack and whenever he’s given the ball you know it’s going to go nowhere

Is a good defender though, but unfortunately he no longer suits our style of play

Sounds like your describing chillwel ?

Surprised there's not been more about his attitude. The way he meanders back after getting "forwards" is criminal, had a part to play in watching Newcastle's first from afar today. Should have been binned ages ago.

Same player he has always been he just seems to be encouraged to get forward a lot more these days presumably in an effort to help relieve the heavy marking on Maherz.

Obviously it doesn’t work as if he claimed to be a winger I honestly think would never of got a professional contract, he doesn’t have any of the attributes required to be a threat in the final third of the field.

We need to find another way of stretching the opposition as any opposing manager with half a brain will let Danny Simpson have the ball and continue to double up on Maherz.
