Disgusting, or just business?

It is wrong, My lad was 151 on the waiting list at the start of the season.

What fuchs me off is I would be willing to pay £300, Family would all chip in for his BD/Xmas pressie for him to have the experience, but to jump the que for £600 all because they have more money than someone is disgusting and poor practice imo.

In case people don't realise is LCFC do not give 2 sh.its about fans anymore, they did when they first arrived but since the title win its been 2 fingers up to the locals.

Whilst people are happy to be brought with a free beer/ bottle of water it will continue to happen.

Man City don't charge and do it for make a wish kids and local community children. They can afford to but it does at least uphold the spirit of it all...

Some clubs charge the money but state that the kids must turn up in full kit.... so you have to visit the club shop first to be bent over the counter as your £600 doesn't cover a childs kit....

Every Club can afford to swan

Fair point! Just that some I guess are substantially wealthier than others....

If you allow a child to be a mascot for the day for free, then you likely have made a fan for life who will pour so much more money into the club over the years then what is being charged.

Its not  a very good business decision to charge to be a Mascot and that surprises me with Leicester City...

I have to say I find this very distasteful. As someone has pointed out above, this is actually a very short termist business decision anyway, because giving mascot experiences for free is likely to result in far more income in the following years than charging for it.

People have touched on hospitality in this forum, and personally there’s nothing wrong with hospitality, it offers a product to those that want/can afford it. As long as it remains a tiny proportion of the clubs offering its fine with me. As well as corporates, it also offers fans celebrating special occasions to have a bit of a special day out.

That article is from 2014. Although Northfield has shown we're still at it... Can't we give the damn thing away when the players wander around the royal infirmary? I understand we're a business. But we're also a city community. If everything comes down to money I may as well start supporting McDonalds.

Dad = I've just spent 600 quid on this so you better enjoy it.

This is a new low for Football and an absolute disgrace, Someone should start a campaign to have it stopped and outlawed.

In my time it was a pleasure to see the excitement  on the Children's faces to walk around the changing rooms and meet some of their idols and get a few Autographs.

Someone needs to protest against this miserly money grab and I'd really like to see our Club lead the way.

Free would of course be the best but I can imagine the waiting list would be obscene.  My lad is 9 but could be 23 by the time he got to the front of the queue. I'm also a little sceptical about "free" lists as they are open to some abuse - sponsors, players friends/families etc.

So, I don't have a massive problem with the club charging a premium on the experience. £600 is way too steep in my mind though. A £200 donation to the Foxes Foundation would be easier to swallow.

I guess it is supply and demand.  If people pay it, then the club (business) will charge it.

A point was made earlier on the radio.

In theory, only the richest kids could be mascots and if they chose to, again and again and again, every other week.

lol

It's surely priced out of most people's means?

I just assume that people like @Col city fan have their finger on the pulse.

Did you not see the post I made about Tottenham?

Selective reading once again I see..

Should be free for disadvantaged children. In the event that such a child cannot be found (seems highly unlikely) it is probably reasonable to charge.

Still remember the magic of getting a letter in the post from the club telling me I had been chosen to be a mascot. Getting given a free kit, autograph book and 4 tickets for my family too.

Paid...nothing.

I know we were in the championship back then but a real shame some of today's kids won't get to experience that. It's wrong.

It's a wider football issue though, the norm that it's a business at the end of the day.
