That might be one of the most insincere bits of copy I’ve ever read lol they literally couldn’t give a shit, it reads like “**** me if you’ve got enough money for this you probably won’t even care if we lose your kid”

£405.00 and they can't guarantee that the kid wont get all the players autographs. If the player is in the match day squad, that should be guaranteed as a minimum for that price.

It's sheer money grabbing. The old system of putting kids names in a hat and drawing out a "mascot" is fairer and more inclusive.

There's simply no justification whatsoever for charging for this kind of thing. But, alas, that is the way it is now.

They even charge for birthday announcements on the scoreboard!

WTF! Really? That's just taking the piss

Yeah, my mate called them to ask if they could annonce his daughter's birthday and was told it was £30, but they couldn't guarantee when it would be displayed - it might be at half time, or could be 30 minutes before kick off!

Wow, that really is penny pinching.

They'll be charging fans 20p to take a piss next

now I just think, f### you kid, pay up like the rest of us.

£250 I was quoted for my nipper, I will also point out that she is deaf and loves the club so so much , this was out of my budget and it was for a a cup game that was a pittance to get into ! Disgusting doesn’t cover it

Why have you pointed out she is deaf?

NOBODY would ever do that. Definitely not. Ever.

"Hello, is that the marketing manager? I've had this great idea. Every match thousands of fans use our toilets which WE have to pay to clean. It's only fair that they should make a contribution. I suggest 50p each. What do you think"

Marketing Manager: "Great idea, let's do it, but make it a pound"

I was mascot in 1993. It was drawn out on the Monica Winfield show on Radio Leicester about 3 weeks before.

The morning of the match I had to go on Radio Leicester for a 10 minute interview and at the end I had to draw the name out of a hat to choose the mascot for the next match.

Was all free, think you just had to be a Junior Fox member.

I added my 7 year old to the waiting list at the end of last season, wasn't aware you had to pay once/if selected though!

But someone will that's the point. Which you've completely missed.

wont be a little lad who's had fck all his entire life from the monselll who's rattled in 40 goals for aylestone united under 9s, it'll be some posh kid from who goes to Leicester grammar who probably supports Manchester City on the odd week he's not watching the tigers. Thats probably an exaggeration I admit but still, it's an illustration of the club putting up barriers to those less well off.

I follow tennis and boxing vigorously and I hear plenty of criticsms of both in terms of the way the sports work but football has easily made the biggest u turn in my lifetime, boxing in particular at least admits what it is and always has done. The other two are exaggerations of what they were in the 90s football can be unrecognisable at times and this is a prime example.

We wont sell Riyad Mahrez, a finite resource, for 65 million quid because "we don't need the money" yet we charge for mascots to generate enough revenue per annum to pay his wages for one week. Excluding a lot of the lads who probably live and breath the club, the ones with posters on their walls  and the programs in their top draws, at the expense of those who can afford it? That's not for me.

But the reason they are charging and having to take every opportunity to make extra cash is to pay the spiralling ridiculous wages ..... Of a lad that was good at football and likely to be that kid off the Monsell (or the Algerian equivalent).

Whilst those players expect £100k+ a week, expect the people paying it to look for every way to make money to meet those demands.

We won't sell RM because we "don't need the money" immediately... we can wait and watch his value rise further.

None of this do I agree with either - but it's just the reality of paying players £5m a year to play a sport most of us play for free.

If Mahrez gave up a month's wages, mascots could be free for eternity. :claudio:

In every situation, there's always a positive.  600 quid down, come out, do a few keep me ups, out sprint vardy, nutmeg mahrez a few times and smack the ball in off the cross bar.....maximum exposure in front of the talent scouts....boom.

It's 80 grand a year.

It's absloutley throw away money to a club like ours. Just one of the many ways clubs like ours are needlessly taking the game away from the demographic that made it great in the first place. The club has a duty to the community if you ask me as it owes a lot to it, it should not look to exploit it for relative pocket change.

How do you know that the club don't use that bit of income to buy presents for the poor kids that the players visit in hospital at  xmas.

They usually just dish out the crap from the club shop that no one buys!

You're being far too charitable about them. The money generated from mascots is a piss in the ocean compared to everything else they waste money on.

Because A) They wouldn't cost 80 grand and B) That is not how revenue streams work lol

It wouldn't  even make it justifiable if  that was the case I am quite sure a club that turns  a 96 million pound profit can afford to not rip it's mascots off and still provide that service!

The only way the club will change is is supporters start writing letters of complaint and raising the issue to a new level through social media.

Pretty disgusting in my opinion.

It really is disgusting.

I was Leicester mascot away at Ipswich in 01/02 and I'm pretty sure that was free. Why not just have a competition for junior members/season ticket holders for every game?

I had no idea that clubs were even charging until I heard about it on TalkSport yesterday, so fair play to them for bringing it up. It's a hideous display of greed and the disparity between clubs and fans is just going to grow and grow whilst this carries on.

Disgusting.

Like others have have said though whilst people pay it the club will continue with charging those prices and they will probably increase too over the next few years to come.

It just goes to show that clubs really will pinch every last penny they can out of fans.
