Teams that cannot mathematically catch us.

It's that time of the season again, as the race for 7th heats up. It's worth looking over our shoulder at the teams who can no longer catch us.

The first name on the list is unsurprisingly :

 

West Bromwich Albion

Wahey, the return of this thread. I think we'll add Stoke next week as they play Arsenal away and Tottenham at home in the next two, 16 points behind us at the moment.

i shoud be collecting on my bet at start of the season then for leicester to be top midlands team - no great shakes considering the opposition was wba and stoke......ha!

Sheffield Wednesday can still catch us - I say this as I have had a bet with a friend  - which team finishes higher in their respective league.

 

They can get a maximum of 65 points. 8th place currently has 61 points....

I know we are safe, but even so I'm very much looking forward to the post from the clever clogs on here who calculates that, given all the remaining fixtures, with teams in the bottom half playing each other etc, we cannot mathematically be caught by three teams.

 

And, as my old maths teacher always said, you must show your working...

I seem to remember a thread like this a couple of years ago. Add teams to the list once it is mathematically impossible for them to catch us. Not sure there'll be quite so many teams on this year's list, but I'll get the ball rolling:

Man Utd

Liverpool

I think panic is the modus operandi of many. Actually, I have a lot of empathy for it, so I understand a bit better now.

A point today will mean Southampton are added to the list. They can reach 43 but obviously our goal difference in far superior.

Just have to hope that Everton lose and we win against Spurs to grab that 8th place. But really it should have been higher. We really missed a trick this season.
