You're judging him on perception, probably because he wasn't that great in the PL when he was 19 and because of his hair style and some things he got up to what the average 19 year old does. On the Villa forum almost to a man they think he's the best player they've had in decades and plenty think £40m isn't enough for him. No doubt he's somewhere in between those two view points but I've been impressed how highly rated he is by people who see him week in week out. I really thought there would be more signings across the board before the World Cup but it seems clubs are holding off and seeing who a) has a good one and b) gets a bad injury during it and therefore not have to be lumbered with a newly signed crock until Christmas. He was out injured for half a season so you can double his goal/assist tally for an accurate comparison. According to the Villa fans on their forum, no other c/ship player has created more big chances than Grealish since his return. Of course, if you don't have anyone with the ability to put those chances in the back of the net, they don't go down as assists. Having said that I would still prefer Maddison any day.
