If he was in a better side he would stand out more. Hes done very well in a poor swansea side. Just like maguire did at Hull.

Just everything about this Evans deal is putting me off.

 

He may have one good season MAY have.

 

But he comes here just expecting a final pay jump he might just coast his contract.

 

Mawson would be trying to I'mprove his game day in day out.

 

Like I said would prefer to get both because when Evans flops atleast we had the back up of mawson.

 

And if Evans is a flop he will be on a long contract with high wages would be hard to sell.

 

Football is a business and Evans isn't good business.

 

I could be right or wrong about Evans, but people thinking he will come here and automatically make our back 4 a huge improvement  and delusional and are not physic. 

 

Good for the gamble of the price but people that gamble usually lose.

 

 

Where to begin with this post?

 

Somehow you managed to contradict yourself twice, and also manage to justify your own bias against Evans by not objectively considering the risks of spending a considerable amount of money on Mawson, which include a lack of experience, and the fact he may have had one good season, MAY have.

 

Secondly you are making assumptions based on exactly what about Mawson's tenacity for self-improvement and training practices? What have you seen or heard?

 

I know despite the repeated referred taxi incident, that Evans is solid pro, who trains hard and has football intelligence.

 

I don't recall many of the top 5/6 being linked with Mawson. He is young, he is learning, he will make inevitable errors and mistakes. He will also cost significant amounts of money. Money that might well be spent elsewhere.

 

Certainly for us, we will have vetted and scouted Evans to establish if he fits the necessaries for our defence, just like those in the top 5/6 who I can assure are genuinely interested in him. If this deal allows us to invest in other areas, supports our defence (Huth leaving), also adds Prem experience, so we can focus on strengthening a different position financially, then this isn't a 'gamble', this is good business. It's logical and rationale thought considered using data with a projected outcome (should they get the deal over the line). It's not a gut feeling. Not every player bought should be primarily based upon the financial return they offer for the future. Sometimes a player needs to be brought in for the short-term goals of the next 2/3 years. which fits with the likely contract on offer.

started off in midfield and then went to the back either at HT or during the 2nd half. 

 

Costa Rica are no slouches. They don't have many good players but they do work well as a team. The result is a bit deceptive as Costa Rica are playing just before a big tournament and NI are just there for a meaningless friendly in their eyes.

Having said that, 2 of the goals came from corners and there was terrible marking defensively from the team. Can't remember if either or both of them were Evans' fault.
