Did they get any of his offsides wrong though?

Think the last one may have been but we never got a replay as Riyad scored not long after. He was off for all the others though.

Same ref who failed to send off Kompany in the Man City game.

I think he knew he made a mistake last time out and was eager to correct it.

Must say it certainly surprised me at the time when he showed the red card.

He was obviously crap and got it all wrong.

On the red card

I disagree with the red card, Holding would have caught this ball. He was not the last man.

On the penalty

The penalty is a very creative, imaginative aspect from the referee. We watched it again, it’s a nice dive, but it’s not a penalty.

He (Mkhitaryan) plays the ball.

In fairness players kick off like children even if they are 5 miles offside, ego issues, they don't like to be told they made a mistake.

Symbolic performance for the ref? Never a ref and Gray diced/minimal contact for the penalty.

Of course, we finally needed some luck !!!

Both decisions look fair watching replays tbh. You could argue the red, but when he takes down iheanacho the other defender is level with him, not goalside. Will Nacho get there first if there's no foul? I reckon so, he's closer than Holding is.

penalty - mkhitaryan kicks grays shin, foul.

It just looked a reddish foul.  I could understand if he gave a yellow as there was an argument for the last man.  But in the moment the kind of foul it was it looked desperate, looked to intentionally stop Nacho charging down on the goal.  It felt red

As stated earlier in the thread, he gave a red because he knew he messed up earlier in the season, same part of the field kompany/vardy. it’s human nature to make sure you definitely don’t make the same mistake twice

If that red card had been the opposite way round we'd all be kicking off today...IMO it was just about right

Vardy was offside repeatedly but the last two offside decisions were wrong...other than that I thought the officials all had good games, particularly the ref...he let fouls go repeatedly to play an advantage for both sides, which helped let the game flow

I'll také it against this lot.  They got away with a stonewall penalty for a foul on Musa last season that should have resulted in a win for us also.   'Bout time we had the rub of the green with this lot

Red card: Their other defender might have been level but was at some distance, so would have been a 1-on-1 with keeper. Some refs would've given a yellow, especially early in game - but red justified.

Penalty: Haven't seen a replay, but had a good view from Kop. Looked a clear dive.

Offsides: Anticipated last one. Definitely onside. Others too marginal to tell.

Yellow cards: Blatant inconsistencies re. fouls & kicking ball away.
