..oh they are not getting any better!

West Ham are struggling to stay in the league and they bossed us. Steve Beaglehole is really up against it. The players look devoid of structure and any type of intensity, we can't keep this sorry group playing in this fashion.

Is it possible that Rodgers could have a say in the style and manager of the U23s.

Modern managers like to have the academy play a style not too dissimilar from the first team so a player can easily make the 'step up between them.

So if the club are buying into the Rodgers style, then you could see Beaglehole being moved on.

That was said when Puel came but he’s still here and still playing Lofty.

Was in the back of my mind when I first mentioned this, our academy certainly needs some tweaks to enable us to be successful and develop technically able talent to slot into our first team.

Can't help but think Rudkin looks out for him a tad

Rodgers is always hungry to bring young players up. Says everything about this club if they don't have single philosophy set up. Why build a new training ground if your just going throw it in the toilet?

Well we bring talent to our 'elite' academy and they end up playing in a team set up like a sunday league team. It's no surprise there isnt any intensity. I'd love for us to bring in a real forward thinking youth coach and see what we can do.

been saying this for years.   Fingers crossed that BeagleHoof's limitations might finally be exposed sooner rather than later for the sake of any technically gifted young players we have coming through our ranks...

I wonder whether Kolo fancies the job

Some of the younger lads being pushed up into the U23's which wouldn't have happened previously

Gaffer starting to tweak one or two things around the Acadmy

U23s Results have been poor recently so will be very interesting to see if Beaglehole uses the younger players as the excuse for the downturn in results.......bearing in mind that he never previously acknowledged that part of last seasons "success" was due to the avg age of LCFC U23s being significantly older than the sides they were playing against...?!?

Anyone watched us recently? Such an appauling run of form since we loaned out Darnell and Knight, put Luke Thomas in at left back and played Ughelumba elsewhere. We're not even scoring anymore. We were looking the best we've been in a while before that.

a high proportion of our goals last season came from our big centre halves scoring from set-pieces...and knight was one of our leading scorers this season until they finally allowed him to go out on loan to Peterborough.

I guess the danger of being results oriented, overly reliant on route1 "hoofball" and not focussing on technical development is that when you stop scoring from set-pieces, how else are you going to score...?!?

This. At this level, the results only matter when you're playing poor football, wins mask it, losses put the spotlight on it.

The academy has produced Barnes, Chilwell and Hamza. It can't be that bad. I doubt Rodgers has been here long enough to have an informed opinion yet.

Regardless of the results, are any of our players looking decent? Luke Thomas and Taveras have been playing a bit. Shade looked to have potential when he was last playing. Umghelumba looked very good albeit in left back where we put Luke Thomas. A fair few others were gaining speed, skill and confidence before this downturn.
