If this is somewhere else please remove ...    but, in todays Mercury is a 2 pager with this heading by Rob Tanner ..   (perhaps Davie could supply a link @davieG) ...   Tanner probably has a bit of inside info and it makes interesting reading ..    there is a write up on each player but I'll just list them ..  Kasper, Pereira, Dragovic/Evans, Harry, Chilwell,Ndidi, Iborra, Gregoritsch, Nacho, Vardy ....   interesting ..  3 players we haven't signed ..  he says that Drag wants to stay if he gets game time ....   no Shinji, Marc or Simpson ...

Wonder how close that will be to the first prem game team sheet for next season ?? ...   can we provide a better guess ?????

How Leicester City could look in 2018/19: New signings, a formation change and coping without Mahrez
City are moving quickly in the transfer market, so how much will Claude Puel's line-up change next season?

With Ricardo Pereira becoming Leicester City’s first signing of the summer and City closing in on West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans, it is clear Claude Puel is not hanging around as he attempts to revamp City this summer.

With Aleksandar Dragovic also a possibility, and the continued uncertainty over Riyad Mahrez’s future, City could look very different next season.

Here is how City could line up on the opening day of next season, if some of the expected deals and speculation stories get done.

Puel preferred a 4-2-3-1 system but with more defensive options and attacking full-backs he may switch to a 3-4-1-2.

City will be in the market to bring in another goalkeeper to put pressure on the vice-captain, who is expected to step up to be the on-field leader next season as Wes Morgan players a less prominent role on the pitch.

RICARDO PEREIRA (right-back/wing-back)

£22 million is a big fee to pay for a full-back but Claude Puel, who managed the Portugal international during his loan spell at Nice, knows what the 24-year-old can do and he likes his attacking abilities. It was clear at the end of last season when Puel picked Marc Albrighton over Danny Simpson at right-back because of his attacking ability that the Frenchman wants his full-backs to contribute more in attack.

ALEKSANDAR DRAGOVIC (centre back)

The Austria international made only 16 appearances last season and was frustrated with his lack of opportunities, especially when he lost his place to returning skipper Wes Morgan when he had performed well. An out-and-out defender who has become popular with the supporters. City want him to stay for the right price. Dragovic wants to stay if he gets to play more.

JONNY EVANS (centre back)

City have wanted the West Bromwich Albion defender for the past two windows and had a £23 million offer rejected by the Baggies. Now they can land him for just £3 million and that could be the bargain of the summer. The Northern Ireland international will be expected to challenge Wes Morgan to partner Harry Maguire at the heart of City’s defence.

HARRY MAGUIRE (centre back)

Claude Puel said he wants to build his team around the England centre back, but with his stock rapidly rising City will have to fight to keep him, especially if he has a good World Cup. City's player of the year and players' player of the year.

BEN CHILWELL (left-back/wing-back)

The 21-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season and seems to have edged ahead of experienced veteran Christian Fuchs, especially if Puel opts for a wing-back system. He still needs to improve his positioning and defending, but that will come with more experience, and he provides an attacking cutting edge down City’s left flank.

WILFRED NDIDI (central midfield)

The combative central midfielder has become one of the first names on the teamsheet and like Maguire, Puel will build the team around the Nigeria international. The two-time young player of the year will be another player who will attract attention from other clubs.

VICENTE IBORRA (central midfield)

The Spaniard has come to terms with the pace and the intensity of the Premier League, and adds composure and experience alongside Ndidi. He is also valuable defending set pieces and a real handful in the opposition box.

MICHAEL GREGORITSCH (attacking midfield)

The 24-year-old Austria international is hot property and City are understood to be interested in signing him from Augsburg. City are certainly looking to bring in more attacking creativity, especially if as expected Riyad Mahrez leaves the club. City have also been linked with Hatem Ben Arfa, who is now a free agent, and Norwich City’s James Maddison.

KELECHI IHEANACHO (striker)

The 21-year-old Nigerian endured a slow start to his City career after suffering an injury shortly after his £25 million arrival from Manchester City, but in the latter stages of the season he began to show his undoubted potential. Too many times City’s main striker Jamie Vardy was left isolated and Iheanacho provided that link. He also finished the season well with goals against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

JAMIE VARDY (striker)

Still City’s main man, and he will take on an even more important role if Mahrez does leave. He broke the 20-goal Premier League barrier for the second time in three years and doesn't show any sign of losing his devastating pace. Puel has described him as the complete striker and City will be set up to get the best out of him.

This was written before we signed Pereira and is nothing more than the same kind of speculation any of us could make based on transfer rumours.

Another journo stealing a living.

Yep...  where's he gone ???  .... what does Tanner know ????

Well some how he's still made it to the WC, but if he's about to be replaced already he must wonder why he bothered to a point.

That article looks like it was written on here by a no nothing fan.

We don't play 3-5-2 and there is little to indicate we will under Puel.

Next to no chance Dragovic signs.

I really can't see Iborra getting the nod over Silva.

We've only had a passing link to Gregoritch, we've had much bigger links with Roberts and Maddison.

The lack of creativity in that side is frightening.

The funny thing is that he has not written anything that hasnt been said on here, in triplicate in the past weeks.

Shocker! Are we, at FT his No.1 source of information?

Silva should be starting. He should be the new captain.

Would probably rather have Vardy or Maguire as captain but I'm impressed with Silva and Iborra as leaders, always talking to the younger players.

Before the Arsenal game, both of them took turns to put an arm around Choudry, pointing around the pitch, talking to him, giving him advice and direction. Was great to see.

I think we are not too far away in terms of a decent team (obviously in an ideal world we would add a few world class players but I am talking realistic) With that in mind I think we should spunk some money on Pope and go....

                       Pope

Pereira  Maguire  Evans  Chilwell

                Ndidi  Silva

   Diabate  Iheanacho  Gray

                    Vardy

Funnily enough, this was the exact line up going through my head... Swapping out 2 or 3 players, this team sheet has the makings of a side that could win the league and get into the Champions League Quarter Finals...

But obviously as we are all constantly being told, what worked 2 or 3 years ago won't work any more because it won't!

    Mahrez  Thorgan H  Sessegnon
