Problem for vardy, or any quick stricker for that matter, is that he’s only really at his best when the opposition are trying to attack you and their defence is pushing upfield. England play build up football so he never really gets the space as nine times out of ten the opposition are behind the ball. Come the finals, where the whole point is to try and win the game, vardy would be in his element, but infortuneatly his place has already been staked by someone who has got us to the finals, but then, as we’ve seen so many times, the style of football required to get you there is the wrong style once you’re there.
