He needs to come deep to receive the ball apparently.

Fat chance of that when noone is picking him out with a sensible pass in the first place.

I'll just carry on watching an apparently different game then.

Im sure it was them that said the exact opposite about rashford before and during the fa cup final. I think I can remember ian wright saying that he needs to stop coming back and stay uptop and how hes not in a attacking position when needed. And if he wants to be a striker he must stay up top and be patient and wait for the chance. I couldnt care less what they say anymore, they all just seem anti vardy no matter what he does. If he scores a good goal they credit the player who made the pass. If he misses a chance they will say he should have scored and its not good enough at this level, but if sterling, rashford, kane etc miss it does not matter. The fact that they are in that position is what matters.  If anyone watches vardy with england  its clear as day that he makes runs but the ball hardly gets passed to him.

Scenes on here when Vardy and Maguire start the Tunisia game on the bench.

Vardy will be on the bench and can't argue with that.

I'd be miffed if Maguire didn't start, he is better than Stones and Cahill.

Maguire pretty much played exactly as he did for us at end of seasons. Below average. Three times he was caught out with the right winger behind him.

Vardy did a good job whilst he was on by stretching the play. Thus allowing huge space between Costa Rica’s midfield and defence.

I would like to see

Pickford

Stones Jones Maguire

Walker Henderson Alli Delph

Sterling

Vardy Kane

He's obviously not going to answer that question Gabriel, nom matter how many times you ask.

I’d rather Vardy didn’t play, it’s too frustrating knowing how good he is and seeing him get zero chances.

I can't enjoy watching England when Leicester players are involved. I can't stop myself being biased towards them.

We've been 10x worse.

I meant Maguire and Vardy, not the teams.

At least today's game was watchable, I've tried watching England before and barely managed to last 5 minutes.

Let's be honest here.  If Vardy wasn't our player we'd be talking about him playing himself out of contention.

Far too passive when playing with England I'm afraid.  He doesn't look to impose himself on the game or on the opposition.  He looks like a completely different player unfortunately.

Only if we took an hour of a friendly against a side who sat deep as indicative of Vardy's potential at the World Cup.

vardy fans obviously

That's cool. I think the love for Vardy on here is a beautiful thing :)

I've resigned myself to the fact that him and Maguire probably won't get too much game time at the WC but I won't let that stop my enjoyment of it

Completely forgot about this game but I figure I'll check in quickly because I'm sure @Col city fan is dying to admit he got it wrong about Vardy starting tonight.

Aye you were right.

Alas I doubt we’’ll see him start again unless Kane gets injured.

And I say once more, I don’t know why Southgate is not playing his best 11 now and giving them game time together. To still be ‘experimenting’ at this stage is, IMO, bizarre.

You have gotten this quite wrong. You should go along with the FT faithful and ONLY enjoy games where Leicester players are involved.

Consider yourself told...

It feels to me like we should have had one more friendly planned before we start the WC.

He's had two games to experiment and played different sides so it makes sense to have a third and play your best 11 to me.

In saying that, I think he's probably known his starting 11 for quite a while...

I agree. Which makes it even more bewildering why he keeps on fielding different 11’s.

Pick the side, play them and let them know each other’s games and learn the tactics.

We could have a hundred friendlies but Southgate still would be experimenting (as the FA would tell him to)

Personally not really sure how anyone can defend Vardy tonight.

He did one thing of note in the second half when he hustled to set up Henderson’s pile drive.

Absent for most of the first half whilst rashford shone above everyone. I’m sick of wathing him for England and being frustrated, no Alli to blame tonight, people tried to pass to him but he was stationary.

Sterling was annoying on Saturday with the missed chances but at least he put himself in a position to have chances.

Its Kane and Rashford starting for me, Rashford is world class in the making and we need to realise it! Shame mourinho hasn’t if you’re a united fan.

Also don’t really understand anyone criticising Southgate, this is the best we’ve played in years, we’re not going to concede many and there’s every chance we will shit house our way to a result. He’s also made England seem approachable and likeable for the first time in years as well!
