Fox 4 Life Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 Just said on SSN that Lazio want £44m but West Ham will not be paying that, also mentioned other clubs are considering bids. Just get Mahrez sold and offer the big bucks, West Ham will not match it! 1
breadandcheese Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 Is Anderson a top player worth £44m? I see this as a massive gamble for the amount being asked by Lazio. Instead I'd rather we buy 2-3 players for the same money. Kenedy at Chelsea will cost a fraction of £44m, so too will Maddison, or Adam Traore at Boro. 2 1

Why does the guy keep on popping up on people's wishlists, because he's played for Barcelona? He's a one-trick pony and has nothing to offer bar his speed and muscles. His end product and passing ability are abysmal. Edited 8 June 2018 by MC Prussian 20

StriderHiryu Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 He's not worth that much money, even the Lazio fans say as much. I like the idea of going for an actual marquee signing. IE a player who got 10 goals and assists in a major league last season, and ideally has done it more than once in their career. Anderson has got to 10 assists for the last two seasons but not yet got to 10 goals. He's clearly a good player, but not sure he's quite up to the same standards. Admittedly it might not be possible to get someone who is as good as Mahrez. I'd prefer Hakim Ziyech (assuming he would be cheaper), but the step up from the Dutch league to the Premier League is a much bigger jump than Serie A to Premier League. 1

Under Pulis, he has improved no end and shown that under the right coaching, he can develop his potential. Five goals and eight assists from 23 starts under Pulis, as well as being involved in 13 goals and creating 42 chances. Good stats. Plus, I think we need more pace in the team, so we can press higher up the pitch without the ball. 1

There's plenty of examples of Serie A players who found it difficult to adapt due to the difference in speed, physicality and different approach to tactics. Italian football is pretty much dominated by a chessboard-like approach to football, whereas I find Premier League football more free-flowing. Hey, I'd be over the moon if we signed Ziyech. And Jahanbakhsh. 2

The other lad at Ajax David Neres would be incredible too, one of the most exciting players i've seen live in recent years. He's destined for bigger things though. 3

The season before that 1 goal in 18 matches (although hampered by a serious foot injury). Nowhere near first-team material for an aspiring PL club. He still needs to do better and at age 22, still has room to fulfill that potential. We already have pace on the right thanks to Pereira. What we need is a player who is 24 years or older, comes with top-flight experience and the flair and skill comparable to Mahrez. Edited 8 June 2018 by MC Prussian

Not an established player of this quality but someone who could develop to that level would ...... if only we could find one ...

You can't get a like-for-like replacement, but at least somebody with similar traits and who has the potential to develop further and into somebody who can be as influential on the right side as Mahrez has been so far. We aren't going to be able to buy anyone with the calibre, and especially not the proven calibre, of Mahrez. PFA players-of-the-year, guys in top leagues who bang in 10+ goals and assists in multiple seasons, won't come to Leicester. Not at the peak of their career. The realistic options: Take a risk with an apparent has-been, someone no longer at their peak but who stands a chance of rolling back the years. Take a risk with a kid who's shown top potential and could one day become a 10+ goals and assists man. Or even, don't try to replace Mahrez at all, forget about building your new-look side around a talismanic flair player, and instead build elsewhere. I suspect we may well go for a bit of all three - look for promise of the Grealish, Maddison, Roberts variety; keep an eye open for a veteran with a point to prove and, finally, try to bolster our creativity in other positions. But it's a bit hopeful if you're expecting us to uncover what would be, if he were a '10 goals and assists' man 'more than once' in his career, one of the world's better attacking midfielders. And our chances of being disappointed with a like-for-like replacement would be huge.

Adama Traore is no better than Musa. Kenedy, can’t say I (or most others I assume) have seen too much of him but that in itself probably says he’s not a Mahrez replacement. Spending a big amount on 3 players doesn’t mean we’ll have the quality we want. Edited 8 June 2018 by Leeds Fox

Scotch Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 This is the lad I want. Him and Roberts for the right wing. Madison and Nacho for the 10 spot, leaving Gray, Diabate and Albrighton to fight it out for the Left wing. 1

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 This is the signing I want to see above all others.
SheppyFox Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 Pay the 44m and get it done then, we’ve saved 20m on the Evans signing anyway so it’s really a 24m purchase. 1
