In all seriousness, Belgium looked totally beaten and out of ideas until the 1st goal, which was a total fluke. They benefited from being taller than the Japanese and some atrocious defending. Still flattering to deceive. They were 2nd best. It’s a shame they’ve gone through to be honest, because they are not a team.

 

Japan have delivered the most boring and the most exciting team performances of the World Cup.

Belgium were awful, they were gifted 3 goals! No credit to them at all for me. Should have been 3-1 as well but the referee stepped in.

 

Great game, Japan were magnificent but defended like amateurs in the last 20 minutes.

? Never seen you post anything that wasn't cynical or complaining. What on earth are you talking about? They scored 2 excellently crafted goals out of the 3.

Was just starting to think of 2015/16.

 

Then it became 2012/13.

 

They could have given Brazil a real game too, playing like that.

 

For all I would have loved to have seen Shinji play, there's no way he could be as good as Osako- the Japanese Heskey - i.e. wonderfully effective but totally underrated.

Fair comment. Belgium were very poor first 60 minutes, didn't really deserve to win, but did score two decent goals.

 

If England had played like that in the first hour they would have been slated. Personally think the games have been exciting, but generally apart from France when they went from 1-2 to 4-2, the standard of play has been decidedly average.
