I think it is clear to most of us that the squad is now way too big.

There are far too many stagnating on high wages, or players that were once vital to us but are now nothing more than ageing bit-part players. With some decent youngsters coming through, and the need to free up squad space and cash for new signings, I thought it might be interesting to see what the general consensus on here was regarding which players should be the first to go. It's a multiple-choice poll because I thought a lot of us would probably like to see more than one leave!

Personally I think it's necessary to see quite a few leave, even though some of them could rightly be called club legends. It would be interesting to see what others think!

To kick things off, I think we could do with losing Musa, Ulloa, James, Benalouane, Mendy, King.

On the maybe pile for me is Amartey, out on loan or keep him as a versatile squad player (getting rid of the others should help to give both him and Hamza more game time). Then depending on other potential signings, perhaps Slimani or maybe even Shinji.

Mendy, Leo, Musa, Benny and James all need to go ASAP.

Slimani, Shinji and Kingy I wouldn’t mind leaving but wouldn’t be upset if they stay.

Amartey stays and goes out on loan.

Wasn’t Puel a massive fan of James? Despite his injuries I can’t seem him wanting James to be sold, add to that the ludicrous contract given to him last year he’d be difficult to shift anyway unfortunately

Musa, Mendy and King.

James is still injured until September so there won't be any takers.

Slim, Amartey and Okazaki can still be useful off the bench / as plan B.

The rest have one year left on their contracts so if we fail to get rid now, we'll still be automatically free of them next summer.

Really getting rid of all these would be ideal, if you’re being pragmatic take that list sort it by weekly wage and go in that order

Amartey can stay,i think Mendy will get a chance as well.

King,James,Musa,Beny must go and one from Slimani/Ulloa

Okazaki not gonna get any minutes i suppose,he will be 4th choice

Leo and Mendy are the priorities for me. Leo just hasn't even been on the fringes of the team lately, and there's no sense spending time bringing Mendy in when we already have so many established player ahead of him who are performing well.

I still feel that James and King have something to offer as back up - they were central to one of our best performances of the season last year after all, and we had that really difficult time with injuries which highlights how important depth is in that area.

Shinji back up to Maddison for this year whilst he's still in contract.

Slimani has something to offer still, but if a decent offer comes along then let him go.

Benny... seeing we have technically just replaced Drago with Evans, I think we need him still.

Dan... I like him, but I don't see him being part of our long term strategy, so again if a decent offer came along.

Tbh, I’d withdraw Amartey from that list. And possibly Shinji. The rest can go.

Yeah I would keep both unless they were pushed down the pecking order by potential new signings.

Amartey could do with going out on loan though I think if he isn't going to get much game time. Shinji I think still has something to offer too and would probably be happy to set on the bench and not kick up a stink.

Slimani is probably the biggest turd to flush, a real stinking floater it seems. Being paid alot, hasnt applied himself well, isn't going to start while Vards is here, his mate Riyad has gone and if there is any truth in the rumour a couple years ago that we have to pay a 1/4 million to Sporting Clube de Portugal every 15 games he plays he has to top the Gerrimoughhhht charts

Isn't that how a vote works?

But for first you'd only pick one, not many...
