Ah…. That’s right you can just pick players from U23 and play them without them being in the squad…. Have I got that right?

That’s my understanding. The list of squad numbers is for players you are registering. He may still go on loan but i think he will be involved.

Yeah, last year Wilf and Harvey Barnes for example weren't in the squad because of their age, but they still were listed at the start of the season with shirt numbers. Seems odd. Guessing they are figuring out still who will be going on loan and then add the shirt numbers for some of the fringe players later.

Quite simply, the lad isn't in the first team squad.

Called Maddison getting the 10 shirt.

 

On the one hand yes it is disrespectful to Andy King who has been a fantastic servant for the club for over 10 years. But on the other hand it's a statement of intent from Puel and a great way to get the best out of a young player. A number of clubs were in for Maddison but I'm sure Puel told him he was signing him to play the number 10 position behind Jamie Vardy and that he was going to give him the 10 shirt. For a player that has already impressed in preseason that's got to make your confidence sky high and given that we lost Riyad having a highly confident and technically gifted creative midfielder is just what the Doctor ordered. King hasn't been part of the first team setup for a long time and we have so many midfield options that he's realistically not going to play.

 

Looks like the Turkish lad will get the number 4 shirt so wouldn't be surprised to see him starting games ahead of Evans at times.

 

Hamza is a strange one though. He made his breakthrough last season and looked quite good in preseason. I was hoping we'd see him as part of more matchday squads but not having a number suggest he will go out on loan. If that's possible now that the window has closed? The only option would be abroad wouldn't it?

Hamza is a good player and the way he plays and how much he needs to read the game i feel he needs to be playing a full season in mens football to fully develop. if hes only going to be a bit part i would loan him.

Your right. The point I’m making is that they can bring him in whenever they want. Hamza wasn’t in the first team squad last summer when announced but was still involved.

Surprised Hamza hasn't been given a number but I just don't think he's ready yet anyway.

 

Had some good performances last season but also looked out of his depth in other games.

 

Loan would best for him.

That list has nothing to do with who we are registering. 

 

We don’t have to register anyone 21 and under.

He'll be around until Mendy or James proves themselves fit I'd imagine.

I'm sure championship clubs have a loan window that's open. Would like to see him stay though.
