New series on amazon prime.

I’m halfway through second episode, it’s really one of those right time right place documentaries. And they’ve made the most of it and got Ben Kingsley in to narrate it.

id of loved to have had this kind of transparency when we won the league. It’s worth a watch.

I can just imagine Pep going over the top in the dressing room knowing there were cameras watching him. Not sure I will bother watching it. I reckon a lot of it will just be play acting to the cameras.

Is there a lot of behind the scenes stuff with the players? Interviews etc?

Is there much swearing in it?

My 9 year old wants to watch it with me but unless the f’ing and blinding is bleeped out then we won’t bother.

It's really good. I watched it all in one evening.

You're often in the dressing room pre-match, during half-time and after full-time, which is pretty cool. Especially after their home match against United in which they could have won the league. It gets quite intense. Pep seems like a madman, but he's obviously a great coach and you can see why players want to play under him. On some occasions though, I see nothing but David Brent :D

You also get a good insight into several players outside of football, with a particular amount of focus on Vincent Kompany, David Silva and his prematurely born son etc., Agueros son demanding his dad to get Vardy's shirt(!!!). More or less every player is highlighted in his own little sequence.

My main criticism is that it seems a tad disrespectful towards the other teams. For instance, when playing United, the narrator was all "Free-flowing beautiful football versus the bus". I hate United, but still a bit unnecessary to include that.

Yes. Lots of effing and jeffing. Especially from Pep.

When I started watching it, I thought Guardiola was hamming it up for the cameras. The more episodes I watched, the more it seemed like that's just him. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't and I've been taken in. It's an hugely interesting series though. There's quite a lot of 'up close and personal' scenes with the players and they are filmed in every day situations for them at work rather than continually interviewed.

I can understand your reticence but it really is worth a watch. If you get two episodes in, I think you'll end up watching all of it. The fact it took place over a record breaking league campaign was fortunate but they don't just paper over the cracks with regards to the cup exits.

It's close to the knuckle at times Izzy. You're the best judge though, why don't you have a peep at the first episode on your own and see what you think? It's far from the constant cursing you might expect but there are quite a lot of dressing room scenes where the language can be a little ripe.

It wouldn't help if you did, it's an Amazon Prime show.

Tbh I don't understand why parents try to protect their kids from 'bad' language.  It's just words and they're going to hear/use them eventually anyway... I remember my parents going ape shit over swear words when I was a kid but that never stopped me learning them and using them with my mates.  Unless you're bringing kids up in complete isolation from society, shielding them from the realities of human speech just seems like a redundant load of extra effort to me.

I'm not knocking you btw Iz, it's just something I've never really understood.

Finished it yesterday. Bullet point thoughts

- Pep is relentless
- Brandon the kit assistant is the true hero of the whole documentary
- It's a great insight into the backroom workings, but I feel it could've gone further (time constraints)
- Narration is patronising at times but you get over it.
- Narration also pitches any defeat as desperately unlucky
- Vincent Kompany's location when they win the title is just wonderful
- The main appreciation I have is for all the work the backroom/medical staff do
- Their togetherness is something to behold. I can understand why some players would find it hard to leave

Often I think it's more a respect and situation thing, nothing wrong with making sure they know it's inappropriate in certain places, I think every parent knows that there child is going to learn these things at school and use them but that's where it should stay. I still don't swear in my parents house or in the company of them. I think that's a good thing.

As for the documentary, it's good, well worth a watch, nothing on the Barry Fry one twenty years ago though, I mean that was just brilliant.

You won't get this with anyone now signing a player.

As long as he is old enough to know not to repeat it I wouldn’t let it stop you. I’m sure he hears worse anyway.

True that. He's probably heard Izzy's life coaching statements by now lol

Don't worry. Netflix are releasing a documentary they have filmed regards Sunderland's relegation to League 1!

There are bits of it that are good, but on the whole I don't like it. As with the Juventus documentary on Netflix, I can't help but feel the propaganda element ruins it. Openly slagging off Man Utd and other teams, anything to paint City as holier than though. Take that Palace game for instance where Milovojevic missed the last minute pen, Palace were outstanding and did a job on them, but they're painted as being "anti-football".

First two episodes I really enjoyed but since then I've lost interest, doubt it'll get finished.

Unnecessary perhaps but accurate

Only criticism is that if you're not careful, you get drawn into the bias and have to remember they 'only' thumped the league and won the league cup. Makes it feel like they should have won the CL, FA cup as well and won every game. The 'look how many injuries we have' excuses got a bit annoying too.

Great insight other than that. Would love to see a LCFC version.

I'd like to watch it - seen bits of it - but not sure how to see it all without having Amazon.
