Has anybody had this surgery?

If so, would you recommend it? Where did you have it done?

My mum had it about 15 years ago, unfortunately her eyesight after correction slowly started to deteriorate again after 7-8 years and she now wears glasses again. This had always put me off having it, but having looked into it, it seems as though the above is quite rare and many people are still happy decades later.

Any advice appreciated :)

My sister had it done in her late 30’s about 5 years ago. Cost her quite a bit but says it’s the best money she ever spent.

I've always wanted it done. But one thing that put me off is my mates girlfriend had it done and now has a small black dot permenatly in the vision of one of her eyes. I'm very one eye dominant, so that put me off.

But I know plenty of people who've had it done and it went perfectly.

My mum had something else done a few years ago, where they actually operate on your eyes. Can't remember what it's called and am away so cannot confirm, but she very highly recommends it. Her eyesight is still perfect now. Unfortunately I can't have it as my eyes are supposedly "rugby ball shaped", but if yours aren't, apparently it is a lot better and more long term than lazer. I'll try and confirm what it is.

I enquired about this a couple of years ago.

I was very disappointed to find that it wasn't, in fact, surgery to make lasers shoot out your eyes.

Very misleading.

My mate had it done and he can’t really drive at night anymore due to the reflections. He can however see really well during the day and doesn’t wear glasses anymore.

Yep I had fantastic night vision but lost it after surgery ...   can still drive at night but have to be a lot more careful on badly lit roads ...

My wife had it done 5 years ago and has suffered with terrible dry eyes ever since.  She cant work on a computer anymore, struggles with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.  She’s in pain and discomfort the majority of the time too.

She currently attends Moorfields eye hospital in London every 3 months as they trying to find a solution.

It’s basically ruined her life.

I've been tempted to have it done myself but stories like this put me off. You only get 1 set of eyes. Not worth the risk imo.

I have a friend who swears by it and another who had a very bad experience with it.

From what I understand its a procedure which will need doing again in ten years. You should also still get you sight checked regularly as things can change without you necessarily knowing

Yup I have taken that path also.  I read all the good references...then some of the ones that covered the mishaps.Yup

2 work colleagues,1 a great friend..German and settled in USA. His operation. (laser correction) in USA ,now 16hrs ago.

he's still fine...

my other friend had,cattaract-op..8yrs ago,he also is fine no further complications...

But..it's the But,that unlucky contradictive to a lotto win. That million to one mishap..

Your last sentence covers it!!!

My mate Dave suffered from really bad eyesight all his life. He eventually mustered up the courage to have extensive laser eye surgery.

He awoke to see the surgeon leaning over him and the surgeon said "The operation was a success, but you may have problems maintaining an erection"

"Huh? What? Why?" said Dave.

"Well....said the surgeon..."Your wife is VERY ugly" :D
