Relatives took part in a procession with royal soldiers ahead of the funeral

The funeral of Leicester City's owner who died in a helicopter crash outside the club's stadium is under way.

Royal soldiers, monks and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha's relatives took part in a procession ahead of the ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.

The funeral began with Buddhist bathing rituals and will be followed by recitation ceremonies over seven days.

The Leicester City players are due to fly out to Thailand for the funeral after their game against Cardiff later.

Thai billionaire Mr Vichai died along with two members of his staff, the pilot and a passenger when the helicopter came down in a car park moments after taking off from the King Power Stadium on 27 October.

A bathing rite ceremony has started and will take place over the next few hours, followed by the start of the recitation ceremonies.

Why is they no post mortem reports or any inquested in these death?

It wouldn't be necessary to reveal these in detail, as many would correctly presume what happened (killed after explosion on helicopter, moments after it fell to the ground).

Presumably an inquest about their deaths will coincide with why the helicopter has catastrophic problem/s (via debris analysis).

Rob Dorsett has got the details slightly wrong a little, they don't cremate him for another 100 days, the bathing ritual and other bits seem extensive. King Bhumibol's funeral lasted for a year.

I treat what Rob says with a pinch of salt.

Has made quite a few mistakes in his accuracy/reporting in recent times.

Don't know why, but have found Sky Sports and the BBC as unprofessional in some of their approach over the helicopter incident.

I think a lot of the media coverage has been quite dignified to be honest. I joined in the uproar of what Dan Roan did but that only marred what has largely been coverage of a high standard.

Henry Winter and our own @UpTheLeagueFox, as well as @Ian S have been quality. Obviously the latter two have the close connection of supporting us anyway but Henry Winter has been professional and respected as expected.

Majority have been fine and approached it with the quiet, solemn but respectful tone as you'd require.

Nusara Suknamai, Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner, Izabela Roza Lechowicz, also died in the crash at the King Power Stadium.

Ms Nusara's funeral took place in Bangkok on Saturday.

The 32-year-old, who was a member of Mr Vichai's staff, was a runner-up in Miss Thailand Universe in 2005, where she was listed as being from Bangkok province.

I know these are on the BBC website but I think I'll stop posting anymore as it's making me feel ghoulish.

I think it'd be a nice touch if a 'football side' representative - Rudkin? Puel?  - attended the poor girl's funeral and the chap's too whilst put there. Same goes for the pilot and his girlfriend co-pilot.

The club will surely be represented at all the funerals. They've done it for fans on many occasions - Birch used to joke he had a season ticket at Gilroes, such was the number of times he was there to represent the club. It's something we've always done well - Birch especially.

It's been an incredibly difficult week for the press and media to try and cover an horrific story with the respect and dignity it deserved.

Mistakes have been made here and there but some slack should be cut, especially for those providing live rolling coverage.

I'm proud of how the profession as a whole have dealt with it.

Not perfect but pretty close in the circumstances.

On a personal level, it's been heartwarming to receive a lot of kind messages - more this week than in 25+ years combined doing this stuff - however I feel guilty receiving them because of the circumstances. No-one is looking for praise in these circumstances. I'm grateful and humbled of course that I may have struck a chord with other fans. I am genuinely touched. But I'd much rather the tragedy hadn't happened and I was still getting stick for moaning about the manager.

Fair point about about rolling news, especially if you're not well read on the subject. I can also sort of let Dan Roan off a little for unguarded comments even though they were very poor treated and timing. It's the sinister piffle the Guardian come out with that i loathe.

You shouldn't feel guilty, not in the slightest Geoff. It's times like these where tragedy is thrust upon us that true professionalism shines through. And you've been a credit to your profession, the club and the fanbase. You should be proud!

Has the Birch made it over? Not seen him in any pics and wasn't sure if he could fly that far with his health issues.
