I don't actually recall anyone calling them the Thais, we've always called them the owners and will continue to do so.

Plenty did, including myself, so I'm surprised you don't recall it. I'm sure was just shorthand really, and not meant in a disrespectful way, by the vast majority.

PC gone mad

No need. The OP wasn't having a go at anyone particularly, just saying it is nice to make an effort.

I think it is nice and respectful to call someone by their proper name, even if it is hitting a moving target with the various names our owners had or used. For instance, we hear a lot more of Khun Vichai now, which we didn't hear that much before.

I also have a pretty complicated name, and I really appreciate efforts to use it, even if it is mispronounced.

I was partly joking with that comment but tbh I've always called them "the owners". It's not disrespectful to not call them by name.

Stuff like "Pooel" and "Coco the clown" ( lol ) have always annoyed me but if people do that then they do that.

A lot of recent threads have been completely over the top .

.....nice to see that we are recognising this fact.

I had previously posted the need to refer to Caglar Soyuncu  by his name, and not "The Turk". If we can finally see that as a matter of respect, a persons name should be used if you Know it, then I hope we can refrain from using the term, "The Turk" .

I've put The Thais a few times. Surely that's better than spelling the family name wrong.

But hey that's me and I won't go into the PC thing as its neither the time or the place for that.

The term Thais has been used to refer to our owners countless times on this forum. Even in thread titles. I don't think it has ever been meant as an offensive term but I agree with @KingsX that it would be respectful if we didn't use this term to refer to our wonderful owners.

Not to take the piss out of my own argument.  But the correct spelling is Srivaddhanaprabha.

I am committing it to memory, but seriously, “the owners” is good, anything but “the Thais”.

Good on @jmono84 for PMing me the correction without outing me in the forum.

I called him the Turk once.. but I couldn’t remember his name!

its an interesting world we live in when calling him Lord farquad  and saying he looks more like a disproportionate cartoon character is somehow more acceptable than referring to his nationality..

As for vichai, Surely he deserved as much respect 3 weeks ago as he does now, or alternatively as much now as he did 3 weeks ago.

I can't understand anyone being disrespectful towards him - and I can't remember anyone who was. Then again I don't understand the disrespect shown to Claude Puel either.

I've called them the Thais, the Owners, Top, Vichai but never Srivaddhanaprabha or their original name but never disrespectfully. Frankly I'm too old to spend what brain power I have left trying to remember complicated names that I might use once a week at best and if you're on a phone it's a pain trying to check the spelling.

I still have to check how many 'Ls' there are in Chilwell's name and other names like Pereira, I use Ricardo or is it Roberto :P and others

I guess as, sadly we are now just talking generally about one owner I shall probably stick with Top as I can manage that.

Lol maybe it'd be an idea to let some of the old Simpsons catchphrases go, and try and remember the owners surname?

Not having a go mate just pointing out it's just a surname, a tricky one maybe, but does belong to the man who gave us more than we could ever have dreamed of.

But yeah each to their own innit, I doubt the Srivaddhanaprabha 's (copied and pasted ) have that much free time for FT, so we're probably not offending anyone.

I have realised that spelling only matters if I can't understand what's being expressed.

Yes that is an option problem is you need to have it to copy it, that means in most cases you need to find it, to find it you need to search for it, to search for it you need to know how to spell it.............

Hmmm reminds me of the pantomime song

(There's a) Hole in the Bucket
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

So fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
So fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, fix it.

With what should I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I fix it, dear Liza, with what?

With straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, with straw.
But the straw is too long, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The straw is too long, dear Liza, too long.

So cut it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
So cut it dear Henry, dear Henry, cut it!

With what should I cut it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I cut it, dear Liza, with what?

With an axe, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With an axe, dear Henry, an axe.

But the axe is too dull, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The axe is too dull, dear Liza, too dull.

So, sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
So sharpen it dear Henry, dear Henry, sharpen it!

With what should I sharpen it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I sharpen, dear Liza, with what?

Use the stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Use the stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, the stone.

But the stone is too dry, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The stone is too dry, dear Liza, too dry.

So wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
So wet it dear Henry, dear Henry, wet it.

With what should I wet it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I wet it, dear Liza, with what?

With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, water.

With what should I carry it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I carry it dear Liza, with what?

Use the bucket dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Use the bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, the bucket!

There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole.
