To be fair, there were a handful of young tossers in the Burnley section who said certain things goading home fans but they were rightly ejected/moved long before the flare got thrown. Hopefully the cctv footage picks up on the lad who did it. Personally I wasn't bothered about the flares being lit, in red and blue I kinda hoped it would appear like a supportive gesture to Top and the other Thai representatives looking over from the opposite side. Throwing it was pure stupidity though and I heard it hit an elderly lady (not sure if that's true though)

Yeh I’ve no issue with smoke grenades either (they’re not flares ?

What were the Burnley fans at the back singing? I knew they’d said something as one of my mates close to the segregation lost his nut which isn’t normal

My Bold

I did see someone get medical aid and stretchered out of what I think was the Burnley stand.

Was that connected? I hope not!

Sorry you're right, smoke grenades! Personally I heard one of them shout "Where's your chairman gone" but I'm not sure if that was as bad as it got. If you find out from your mate what else had been said I'd like to know too.

I personally didn't see it actually hit anyone so I can't say if that was connected. Lobbing into a crowd would inevitably hurt someone though.

Grim. Gonna have to brace ourselves for hearing that kind of shit every now and then from now on I'm afraid. :(

Dyche was great going on Radio Leicester too. He annoys me going on about money but I don't actually mind him.

He shook each of our player's hands after the game too. I think he understood how difficult it was for them to play.

Burnley were excellent as a club yesterday.

My Dad is a Burnley fan. I'm Leicester born and bred.

I was so proud of both the clubs yesterday.

And sorry for the idiot who threw the smoke bomb in your end, 32,000 at the ground and like everywhere we have our idiot

And some that were led down by security in the second half (it seemed?).

Pfft! If they were genuinely decent sorts, they'd have scored an own goal!

But seriously, good show Clarets. My opinion of the gravelly-voiced gargoyle has improved even.

Never understood the hate towards Burnley and Dyche. He stands up for his club with passion and as a club I'd rather see the likes of them( no disrespect) than the "so called" big boys Leeds,Forest etc in the Premier League.

To think they got into Europe too is a similar story to ours.  Good luck to them and thanks for yday.

Should add. Been there many a time and the town, yes a town of 80,000's odd is extremely passionate and the footy club is the heart beat of the place.  The Burnley folk are cracking people and are spoiled with amazing countryside surrounding the town.

For me it was simply perfect my Dad's team could be the ones there yesterday. I knew BFC/fans would respect our somber day and perfectly.

My mate is a Chesterfield fan and Sean Dyche is obviously pretty much a legend there as he was skipper when they got to the FA Cup Semi Final in 1997 - and probably should have beaten Boro that day. I remember watching that game on TV in the pub and being really impressed by Dyche doggedly marshalling his team that day at Old Trafford.

I can assure you that isn't true. I was stood a couple of rows from the back of our section close to your fans and just behind where the smoke bomb landed and there were no derogatory songs sung about your late chairman/owner. On the issue of the smoke bomb, whoever threw wants reporting to the club and banning. It could easily have hit and injured one of your fans before it reached our section. He should be easy to identify as I would guess that all your fans in the section where it came from will be season ticket holders and whoever was stood next to/near him will be able to identify him to the club/Police. Good luck for the rest of the season (except of course when you come to the Turf!).

I can assure you it DID happen. I heard it myself. I never said it was a song. I said 1 person shouted it. I'm not trying to excuse the smoke grenade btw.

Yep. Something was said definitely. Just waiting for the first set of supporters to sing “where’s your chopper gone”. It will happen.

Same as people who sing 'Murderers' at Liverpool fans or that there was Ice on the runway to Man United fans.

Football rivalry brings out the very worst in the very worst of people. Best course of action is to do your best to ignore it as these ***** just want your attention.

Exactly. Ignore it. The more the reaction comes the more it'll be said. I know that'll be too hard for the neanderthal element of our support when they've had a few, but we really shouldn't let the tiny minority in an away end (or home end next to us at away games) district us with such predictably horrible chanting. They'll only thrive on it.

You're not a neanderthal because you react to such disgusting chants btw. It's very human to get angry at that sort of thing.

So from 20+ feet away you could hear one person shouting but the stewards and police, who were stood next to our fans, and even our fans who must have been in closer earshot of this person, must have heard no such thing or the person would have been removed!

Thanks.

I don't think there's *that* much dislike towards the club. They did superbly in the season we both came up and have continued to build on that since. There might be a bit of jealousy from last season where we wasted a chance at Europa League, but that was our own failings rather than anything Burnley did.

Personally I don't hate Dyche, but I think a lot of the grievances people have towards him are down to his constant complaints about how unfair it is that Burnley can't compete financially. That was particularly grating when it was directed solely at us in the Championship, and now its slightly more broad criticism (not entirely untrue, either), but the way he always brings it up does grate a bit.

As far as his managerial ability and passion goes, I've got an awful lot of respect for the man and his achievements, even more so after his handling of the fixture last weekend. He seems like a genuinely decent bloke and he's clearly found a formula that works well for him and the club, getting the most out of his players.

Yeah I don't hate Dyche, I just think he's a bit of a weiner.

A big chunk of the kop took great delight in singing that Matthew Harding song to the Chelsea fans after he died.:(
