Either that or she's ready to defect to the Lib Dems and just trying to cause problems until she goes. I don't think I've seen anything like that. At least others remain somewhat coherent. That above is the sort of thing I'd guess was written in smeared faeces on a toilet wall in Whitehall.
Mayofox Posted 18 December 2018 Posted 18 December 2018 Good news! The Government will be providing the public on how to prepare/deal with a no deal Brexit. I've got my hands on an initial draft. Apparently, don't worry that UK airports are chaotic. Avoid roads to Folkestone and Dover, which are gridlocked. Ignore the fact that petrol stations are pushing up their prices. Relax when you see shortages on supermarket shelves. Keep calm and carry on when the stock market and sterling fall. Car workers can stay at home, as parts haven't arrived. And don't fret if your operation is postponed due to a shortage of NHS drug supplies.
Foxxed Posted 18 December 2018 Posted 18 December 2018 3,500 troops are on standby for a no-deal Brexit. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-46600850 Ferry space will be reserved in case we need supplies. That's together with the £2 billion for preparations. Some pro Brexit want to "purchase" the current status-quo from the EU. When the free-trade utopia arrives we'll stop paying for what we currently have. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/18/brexit-cabinet-meets-to-discuss-ramping-up-plans-for-no-deal

Does anyone find it a bit sinister?

The government departments will deploy the troops if needed apparently. If that Kent councillor is right, and queues of lorries start piling up, they may be used at the ports I guess.

I would guess that there will a large number of logistics personnel provided to try to minimise the distruption to key aspects of goods flow i.e perishable foods and fuels etc. Given the timeframe I would bet that most of the troops would be used as manpower substitution to release police officers from static guard sites to support public order. This is something that the military are already trained for.
Guest MattP Posted 19 December 2018 Posted 19 December 2018 We can add sexist to the list as well then...
Guest MattP Posted 19 December 2018 Posted 19 December 2018 This PMQ's is electric - Leadsom hammering the speaker and Bercow has gone red as fcuk.

Guest MattP Posted 19 December 2018 Posted 19 December 2018 Only Corbyn could win PMQS then somehow manage to come out of it being criticised from all sides and having to literally run away from the scene

Carl the Llama Posted 19 December 2018 Posted 19 December 2018 I guess I'll be the voice of reason, then, and point out that even if he did say stupid woman and not stupid people it's really not a big deal. Last time I checked Theresa is female and you won't find many arguing that she's been particularly clever with her handling of various big issues in her time as PM so it's a rather tame and accurate description of her if anything. If he even said that. Turn the situation around and I strongly doubt anybody would make a fuss about 'sexism' if Theresa called Corbyn a "stupid man". I'm sure MPs have been caught on camera muttering far worse things under their breath without the media, propagandists and careerists going crazy over it.

Yes that’s exactly what life was like in this country before 1972

Only the other week Philip Hammond was caught calling a female backbencher a 'Stupid Woman'. Didn't hear much about it did we. All this talk of misogyny etc and yet last week, two hours before the vote of confidence, Theresa May reinstated two Tory whips, one of which sent over 2000 sexually agressive text to many, many female constituents and the other is accused of various sex offences, including rape, just so she could get the extra votes. Theresa May = Feminist. I think not. Not to mention literally every authoritative lip-reader has confirmed he actually said 'stupid people'. I really did not think so many people were so blind to Tory spin and our State Television, the BBC.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 December 2018 Posted 19 December 2018 Re: Stupidwomangate Would it have been different if Corbyn had said (allegedly) "stupid man"? Or perhaps if he mouthed, "Stupid woman, in my opinion"? (Because, as we know, if it's only your opinion, you can be excused anything.) What about if he'd said, "lovely woman"? (Ah, that's nice, but HOW DARE HE CALL HER A WOMAN!!!) Or is it just stuff and nonsense? Like most politics.

I don’t see an issue with it, however if it had came from the other side of the bench the uproar would have been as bad, if not worse. The left side of politics started this absurd nonsense into taking of expressions literally and are quite happy to fan the flames onto to similar incidents, I have no sympathy when it bites them in the arse. I think a lot of racism, sexism, misogyny or bigotry falls into the same grey area but it always gets blown way out of proportion. We all know when it’s really nasty, this wasn’t and generally it isn’t. Its a sown field being well reaped in my opinion.

It is the same few hundred people who marched with the EDL, the BNP, and now the Football Boys Club or whatever the morons like to call themselves. They'll stand pissed outside a few pubs, shout 'No Surrender' till they're hoarse, then scamper off home so they don't miss MOTD.

They clearly are just using this to detract attention from themselves. As a woman when I saw that on breaking news I laughed - wouldn't have offended me on a sexist level at all. Was interestingly chatting to my husband last night about the fact you would never really say stupid man, and instead would go straight in with stupid a**hole , which I did use at regular interviews throughout the evening to justify my point - sometimes completely justified in fact!
