So even if we got a cheaper back up, if we're paying 50%+ if his wages as well as those of a new signing, we wouldn't be any better off. Would make more sense to get a back up in summer where we would have more options available and could strike a better deal.

He deserves to finish the season here, have a proper send off at the last game, and then enjoy his semi retirement in the states. None of this loan nonsense. He showed against Mahrez in the cup match he’s still more than capable of playing to premier league standard.

Whilst some of our back up players aren't amazing (fuchs not included in that) im confident most of them would make villas first 11. Ward ? Simpson ? Fuchs ? Soyuncu ? Evans ? Gray ? Hamza ? Iborra ? Silva ? Iheanacho ? Okazaki ?

westernpark Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Still think he's better than Chilwell. Makes sense for Chilwell to play though, given Fuchs is leaving at the end of season. Potentially we don't have to make a signing at left-back, if Elder does well.
