As Bill Parcels, the American Football coach, once said, "You are what your record says you are.". We are very inconsistent, and on the whole, quite average. Anyone who thinks we should be top six is being unrealistic.

Well if you understand football at all you would realise we were shocking at the back because of the formation thought up by Puel, which every time we went forward we left the defence completely uncovered with too many players upfield and unable to get back quick enough. Sorry, but I saw nothing yesterday encouraging at all. Let's see how " encouraged " you are after the next three matches.

We have used that formation for most of the season and have a very good defensive record. Was Saturday not a bit of an anomaly down to a catalogue of individual errors? We seem to concede a lot of goals sheerly down to silly mistakes of individual players
