stripeyfox Posted 8 March 2019 Posted 8 March 2019 I dreamt last night that I was walking down the road and some blokes (who turned out to be Wolves fans) mistook me for Derek Dougan...a footballer whom I've never seen play and probably only even heard of in passing. WTF does that mean?

RoboFox Posted 8 March 2019 Posted 8 March 2019 You ever dreamt of someone you really fancy? Real, fictional or in this case a strange fictional, idealised version of someone I already know invented by my subconscious? That happened to me this morning. Couldn't get her out of my head for a good hour after waking up. Bizarre.
Izzy Posted 8 March 2019 Posted 8 March 2019 What really pisses me off about dreams is when you get woken up in the middle of one and can't get back into it. I was having my afternoon kip earlier and deep in a dream about a girlfriend I had years ago. We were back at her place after meeting for a reunion drink and in the middle of erotically undressing each other, when my bastard phone went off and woke me up. I immediately switched it off and tried to go back sleep and return to my dream at the exact moment I left it, but no luck. So frustrating as I was just about to shag her brains out.

In them I'm struggling up a hill behind her as she strides away into the distance. Gates and other obstacles continually get in my way and I slip back down the slope. Self explanatory, I guess. I always wake up with that feeling of emptiness, sadness and loss that we feel when someone we really care about is lost to us.

Dreams of falling or being too high that you feel utterly helpless and that to fall would be disastrous. I regularly dream about flying (without any aircraft, just me) or being launched high into the air and feeling terror at being so high and falling to earth. I have felt my self jolt and then wake up as if I've stopped myself from hitting the ground. I’ve only ever had the falling dream then a jolt after having fallen asleep on my back with my head facing straight up (this only ever happens when I’m exhausted as it’s not a natural way to sleep). Sometimes this happens without a dream and just a jolt. I’ve always thought it has something to do with your body not wanting to sleep flat on it’s back. As a self preservation mechanism... to prevent chocking and such. Could be absolute bullox but it seems reasonable enough.

Whenever I have a higher than normal temperature I have batshit crazy dreams. As a kid if I was ill they'd either manifest in crazy night terrors thrashing around in bed screaming or really surreal, lucid sleep walking sessions. Like I once knocked on my sister's bedroom door, handed her an imaginary coin, told her it was for the vending machine, stood there waiting patiently until she went away and came back pretending to hand me something and then I went back to bed. Absolutely no memory of it myself, even the next day but a story I'm often reminded of. Luckily I haven’t had a bad fever too many times. But last time I did have one, it happened to be when there was a huge storm. I was sure the world was ending, it was horrible. I’m sure I even woke up at one point and was still convinced it was happening.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 5 April 2019 Posted 5 April 2019 Rarely one to remember dreams or give them too much thought when I do but last night was different and it took me a good few minutes after waking up to realise it wasn't real. I was being verbally attacked in a Leicester Mercury column by Robert Ullathorne for not arranging enough quality football matches at Beaumanor Hall. The subsequent pressure and hatred from the public led me to have to go into hiding.

I’ve got some absolute cracking stories about that haha. I lived with a friend who used to do that a lot. Once, he let a friend stay in his and his GF's room after a night out. He woke up to find the friend gone and his wardrobe ful of piss. He knew he was responsible. Another time, he'd (let's say his name is Terry) sleepwalked across the landing to another housemate's (let's call him Dan) room, who was still awake. Dan was trying to wake Terry up as Terry went over to Dan's laptop bag and squatted over it. Now, Dan's urgency to wake Terry is increased drastically and he is shouting at the top of his voice. This isn't enough to wake Terry, but does make him turn and leave the room. The shouting also woke Terry's GF, who is coming to investigate. As she reaches Dan's room, Terry passes her and says, "Don't know what his problem is." These two rooms are on the top floor of a three storey house. It has a small landing, and there is actually a bathroom between the two bedrooms.
Raw Dykes Posted 5 April 2019 Posted 5 April 2019 I rarely remember dreams much anymore. However, I did wake up laughing at one I had not too long ago. I was living in a house and Fish from Marillion moved in. He was clearly down on his luck. He looked a bit thin and scruffy. I noticed that my milk kept going missing from the fridge, and this had never happened before he moved in, so I knew exactly who was to blame. I confronted him, and he said, "Yeah. I'm sorry - I just love milk so much that I can't resist drinking it when I see it." As it turned out, though, as I suspected, he was completely skint and needed the sustenance. I know one Marillion song, and I can barely remember what Fish looks like. Hadn't thought about him in years before that.

Dreams are so random, which is why I started this thread.
The Fox Covert Posted 6 April 2019 Posted 6 April 2019 I occasionally have dreams which are very vivid and which I would generally categorise as displacement. Nothing quite fits but months later you can still remember every detail but you can't experience the same feeling by trying to relive it. The most vivid was waking up on Sunday morning at the Glastonbury Festival. I was on my own in one of the front rooms of a house, but it wasn't Worthy Farm, it was a vast French Renaissance pile in the same location as Worthy Farm. Uncomfortable on the hard, formal French furniture I stood up. Nobody else was in the room, but two huge Irish wolfhounds came up and pushed their great hairy muzzles into me. A loud drone, from a crescendo of brass instruments all playing the same rather flat and funereal note rang in my ears. Uncomfortable with that I went into the next room to see if anyone else was around. There was nobody there, but there were the instruments from a brass band, all placed on the same type of hard, formal French type chairs as in the room I had just left. I walked out the French doors onto a large terrace. No French doors or terrace at the real Worthy Farm. Instead of the clutter of very large farm buildings there are in this location now, it was back as it was in the 1980s, with only a short walk across the farmyard to the very top of the vast field above the Pyramid stage, with a drunken wobbling line of temporary Heras fencing the only barrier between the farm buildings and the cattle from the camping fields. Once again there was nobody about. The cows had pushed aside the fencing and were wandering around their field, curiously nosing their way into the thousands of tents where a few days earlier there had been lush green grass. Puzzled, I looked around, and decided I was where I thought I was. The Pyramid Stage, then just as large as now but made from second hand steel from an old barn and corrugated iron, there. Glastonbury Tor, there. The steep wooded sides of Pennard Hill on the other side of the valley, there. The course of the old railway, clearly visible on the other side of the river behind the Pyramid Stage, there. Still nobody about. And then the dream stopped and I woke up. Not at Worthy Farm, not at my own home, or even in Somerset. In the front bedroom of a backstreet terraced house in Doncaster, where I actually lived.
StanSP Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 I've not watched one second of Game of Thrones but last night's dream consisted of being asked to write an episode for it
Raw Dykes Posted 4 May 2019 Posted 4 May 2019 I've just remembered a dream I had recently. I dreamt I had found a lot of vintage Beastie Boys merchandise that I had completely forgotten I had. I was looking through it all and was thinking how cool it was, and wondering how much it would be worth, but really wanting to keep it and wear the t-shirts. There were socks, as well , Then I noticed it all had their individual names on. I know what their names are, but for some reason, in the dream, I thought one of the Adams was the namesake of the Sunderland paedo Adam Johnson. I was gutted. It wasn't worth anything, and I am not wearing anything with a kiddy fiddler's name on. It got me wondering, has anything like this actually happened? I wonder if there's anyone with Ian Watkins (from Steps) merchandise who had to throw it away? Years ago, my dad was investing in Banksy prints. He was recommending everyone else should. One person he talked to said he'd already got a big art collection. Guess who the artist was? Rolf Harris.
ithuriel Posted 4 May 2019 Posted 4 May 2019 Used to have two recurring dreams when I was a kid, one was that something dark was watching me from atop the wardrobe in my room which left me afraid of the dark when I was small, the other was of a large, empty dead city and something bad was going to happen, they reduced over the years and all but stopped about the time I was in my late teens. Have had some really weird dreams over the years, including one where I conversed with a friend who was long dead that kind of shook me up, the mind is a weird thing.
fuchsntf Posted 4 May 2019 Posted 4 May 2019 I was having a horrible nightmare, dreaming I had died... I woke up,then discovered I had!! 3 years ago had a 9 month long ecstatic crazy dream, just couldn't get it out of my head... Reoccurring everyweek, sending me into delirium...It got to a point,I just could take it any longer, people kept looking at me,as though I was some demented nutter...even explaining that I was born in New Parks,in Leicester,& it was they who had the audacity believing it was me that was weird but wasn't it them who Could neither spell not pronounce the great name of my city of birth... .A great King crossed over into these dreams, and worse still notions and bleary pictures of the same girl wouldn't go away...Rachel,Rachel screamed out towards me,assuring me goals will be met,and she and this Now entrusted dream King Dick will accompany me through this journey into this unknown....... Even now after sharing it with so many others,it's still so hard to believe when this dream stepped out of my mind and exploded into the realm of reality.... You couldn't of made it up,Ffs you simply couldn't of dreamed it..!!! But lads n lassies...we ALL did, didn't we.??
Stadt Posted 5 May 2019 Posted 5 May 2019 I'd imagine (or hope) it's the same for others but most of my dreams exist in some sort of inter-planetary plane where the edges are are a watercolour-y cosmos and the main boy of the dream is a composite of various locations put into one. Its weird but one of the few constant for me

I imagine Hitler memorabilia would still sell and people still buy Michael Jackson records.
