Best current PL over 35s XI

Recommended Posts

Bit of international week boredom, and riffing off Wes's winner and Crouch's sub appearance, I'm wondering if a combined over 35s PL team could be cobbled together - and whether it could hold its own.

So first two on the sheet, Wes at centre back and Crouchy up front

Cech

Bruno

Jagielka

Morgan

Lichtsteiner

Foster

Murray

Boruc

Crouch

Speroni

Caballero

All the over-35s in a Garth Crooks Team of the Week play anyone anywhere for no apparent reason-style.

I suggest changing it to 33

Cech

Zabaleta - Koscielny - Morgan - Holebas

Milner - Fernandinho - D. Silva - Young

Murray - Crouch

All 33 or over.

I'd have Defoe in there if he wasn't technically on Rangers' books at the moment. Obviously Young is out of position Milner is very versatile.

Other players that could be included - Baines, Simon Francis, Llorente, Antonio Valencia, Monreal, Bamba.

Young has only more recently gone to full back though hasn't he, he was a winger first.

Not a horrible team in any case.

Brighton RB Bruno is 38

I knew he was old but I thought more like 35. That's mental. Kudos to him for still going.

Aren't LM/RM Young & Milner's actual original positions lol ?

Wait about 4 weeks and you can include Fuchs and Okazaki on the list.

Gerremin all in on 5 year contracts.   A lucrative sponsorship deal with Horlicks would be a given.

Only 12 players over 35 atm, and 5 are keepers.

I think this backs up the P.O.V. that Wes needs to be put out to pasture (or coaching).

They  are never going to make top 6.

I think there is more chance of relegation. Where are the goals going to come from for a start?

28 goals between them this season wouldn't cut the mustard, but quite a few don't play regularly. I reckon they would be comfortably mid-table, playing some not shabby football.

Even though my post was intended to be taken very lightly, Glen Murray doesn't have David Silva feeding him every week, 30+ goals there easy lol plus Llorente might score 3 of his 40+ chances
