Maguire to Man Utd / Man City

But the £80m valuation is us getting one over a top 6 side imo. So long as we don't wast most of it on Dunk

They’re getting one over us also, by taking one of our best players. Making our target to break into the top 6 more difficult

I wouldn't have out him in our top 5 best performers last season. Maguire isn't going to suddenly turn that shower of shite into world beaters

Why is it weird to think we should sell one of our players that reportedly wants out for way above his peak value

1. We don’t want to sell him.

2. We don’t need the money.

3. He’s not pushing for a move.

4. We have huge ambitions that can be realised more easily by keeping him.

5. Manchester United are on the decline and we can finish above them this season.

6. If we keep him for one more year his value will only increase.

You got them over the barrel Jon. Make a dream and just keep saying NO until you hear the magic number. Click your heels together three times if necessary :vardy:

But this is the game. Its not like Top 6 clubs (Like us next season) are immune. Look at happened with Ronaldo, whats happening with Poga, Sane, Hudson-Odoi, etc - no club is immune as long as there is a "bigger fish"

To get to be a "biggger fish" takes time and begins in your own league before branching out into foreign shores (Just to keep the fish analogy on track)

Man Utd suffer huge blow as insiders reveal Maguire update
Date published: Monday 15th July 2019 9:17

Manchester United are no closer to signing Harry Maguire after reaching an ‘impasse’ with Leicester, contrary to reports that they had agreed a fee.

United made Maguire their priority signing this summer after growing damn tired of Phil Jones and his shit.

It was reported on Sunday that they had come to an £80m compromise with Leicester, agreeing an initial £60m fee with £20m in potential add-ons.

But the Daily Telegraph deny that claim, stating that United still see Maguire ‘as being worth between £50 million and £60 million’.

With Leicester demanding ‘more than £75m’ for the England international, the Foxes have not even been tempted ‘to the negotiating table’.

Sam Wallace, John Percy and James Ducker – so this is bloody reliable stuff – also refute the suggestion that Maguire was ‘fuming’ with the club for reneging on a supposed gentleman’s agreement.

They say ‘there has been no hint of him being disruptive among team-mates’ during their pre-season camp in France, and ‘has not shown any sign that he would try to force a move out of the club by downing tools’.

Maguire does still harbour aspirations of leaving for either United or Manchester City, were the latter to renew their interest. But he ‘would not be a thorn in the side’ of his club to get the move he desires.

Leicester are said to be ‘confident’ that he will be ‘committed’ to the cause this season if the move does not come to fruition.

Just like any of the other negative/positive stories that have gone before...It could just be a journo /media-geek just weighing the pros and cons, and making up another selection of points to get their twist on the story out!!

Just about as reliable has Del-boys and Rodders ,3 wheeler Reliant(good name).

Weighs up the British sporting press..

I much prefer chitty-Chitty bang bang..lol

Sorry, those in bold are suppositions.

Man Utd may well be on the decline, but they are a monstrously significant club and will be so for a good while yet.

Their BRAND is so large, it almost hides the club's footballing condition.

But that's based purely on the idea that he is the only cb we could make us break top 6. We would get a world record fee and could get a replacement and pay for the youri fee which frees up more funds to make our squad even better, so more chance to break top 6.

I think a lot of you are not seeing the bigger picture here. This isn't about whether you think we're missing out on a good deal because you think Maguire is overrated, or easily replaceable. This is about letting the big clubs know that you're not going to be a pushover. Because believe me, they'll soon be back for Chilwell, or Maddison, or Tielemans, or Barnes, or some other player you DO actually rate and is not so easily replaceable.

....And each year, one of them will go for a huge profit.

It's quite clear we are happy enough to sell one first teamer per season as long as the money is right. Kante, ryiad, Drinkwater..... They've all went yet we've not miraculously turned into a feeder club.

And we are becoming more difficult to deal with in terms of outgoing transfers.

If the player wants to leave, fine. But only on our terms too. We aren't being bullied.

Or every time they do come in for one of our players, they have to pay a world record for that position. i understand the stance that we should never sell a big player, but selling for world record fee is not having our pants down. We also show players that would usually choose other teams that we will sell them in the future if they join us but we will only sell when we get what we want for them.

Wrong! We weren't 'happy enough' to sell Kante or Mahrez. Drinkwater, probably not so much.

The trouble is we are being bullied in a way. When the big boys come knocking most players want to go. It’s understandable. In essence we are seeing a model taking shape where we are a low turnover feeder club. Where might we be if Kante and Mahrez had stayed?

next summer one of Chillwell or Maddison are likely to go. It’s drip drip, but every time it weakens us and the pressure to find a similar replacement grows.

Do you know the player personally, or do you have knowledge of the inner workings of either club's board? If not, you're also basing your above confidently stated "facts" purely on stuff published on football news sites.
