Today isn't the first game this season he's missed big chances. He's clearly working his socks off, but its not going right for him at the moment.

My issue is we are playing him too much. Its as if when its not working we play him more. If he bagged 2 in the first half, like he should have, i imagine he comes off about about 70 mins. But when he can't score, we keep him on no matter what.

I think we should start Daka on saturday and bring Vards on as impact sub. Cant see that happening and he will play the full 90 mins as part of the loss.

well its not, Spurs game he missed least one, pretty sure he did against Wolves and Man City too

he did it last season too

He is still the main man in my view.

I would have rested him on the weekend - we needed him fresh for tonight, and also for Saturday vs Fulham.

You can’t have a main man who can’t play regularly and has to miss the majority of the training week. The reason we lack cohesion is because Vardy trains about a day a week at this point, stick Tom Cannon in this side and give him the opportunity to score goals. Vardy had chances today, we create opportunities to score.

Selling Cannon is illogical at this point in the season, give him the opportunity to score goals for us and if he can’t do it and we go down we won’t be able to buy a new striker in the summer, but we know he can score goals at that level. If he can do it and we stay up we either see enough in him to give him the nod next season or we sell him on for even more profit come the summer off the back of a good season where he’s shown promise at both Stoke and half a season in the Prem.

More like Jamie Vardy Depreciation tonight.

He missed chances he usually buries, especially the one-on-one that he blasted straight at Henderson. Peak Vardy would have stuck that in the corner, so it was a poor night for him. But like Winks, he rarely has a bad game. Write it off and get one next game Vardy.

The one shining light for me is that his movement when on the shoulder of the last defender is still bang on. Although obviously isn't as clinical in taking his chances nowadays. As for folk calling for Patson Daka, have we not seen enough of him to know he's garbage? Struggles to control the ball never mind hit the target. Yet another recruitment failure that has led us to rely on a 38 year old Vardy.

Didn't Giggs in his final year play more of a central midfield position. He didn't have the legs, but had the brain to play the assists or break the lines with through balls

Yes

and. No that’s not a good idea

We desperately need to replace him with an all round centre forward who can hold it up and bring players in. As much as I'd love him to go on forever, it feels like this season he's a bit of a luxury l, particularly against teams where we don't have much possession. He's an ideal impact striker against tired centre backs, but he doesn't have the legs to start every game anymore.

Playing Vardy now reminds me of England playing James Anderson in the 2023 Ashes. Both legends of the game, but both way past their prime. Also both were trying to reach a milestone - 700 wickets and 200 goals. Anderson got there the following year - let's hope Vardy can bag 3 more goals to reach the landmark, but even that's looking touch and go at the moment.

His presence looms large. It's almost like Vardy FC at times with all this very cringy 'GOAT' stuff, although I suppose that's understandable given his record here. There's no evidence that's a hindrance to us, but instinctively I feel it's probably not helping at the moment. Yes if we go down he's still got enough natural ability to probably hit double figures even at 39, but we need to move on.

All strikers miss chances Andy Cole finished with around 170 PL goals but missed chances by the bucket load.  Remember Glenn Hoddle not picking him for England saying he needed 5 chances to score a goal.

We desperately need someone else up top, not being able to properly press with him just lets other teams constantly build up against us, and players like Bilal have twice as much work to do

yeah true but that doesnt mean he gets a free pass from criticism, these misses are  proving to be costly at times

Is the persistence in playing and starting him constantly actually doing more harm than good now?

I know he’s bagged goals and assists this season but he can’t press and makes the 3 behind him run out of steam sooner.

We desperately need a complete forward who can lead the line, press and be a threat aerially.

Strange performance last night, at times it was one of the best I have seen him with his back to goal. But Man City and Last night his missed chances have cost us.

The issue is we are in a relegation battle, and we don't create a lot, so when chances come along we need to take them.

Andy Cole playing for Newcastle or Manchester United, fighting for titles, is completely different. He probably got those 5 chances each game.
