Came across this.

Sorry if posted elseware but couldn't find it..

It seems this confirms what we all know, the top 6 must never be de throned

I guess we should be grestful the ruling elite allowed us to win the league to re spark interest in the Premier league, never again will it happen...

Solution. Every year all the sides out of the top 6 make a secret agreement to let one club, chosen out of a hat, win all their games against them.

I skimmed it. What's the conspiracy? Some execs somewhere are worried that the "brand loyalty" of big clubs would decrease if they keep getting shown up? Sounds like a load of rubbish tbh.

That's still only 78 points :(

78 guaranteed points, which would mean that one club could ease off in all their games and then try really hard against the big sides. You got to admit, it would revolutionize football and destroy the big clubs monopoly because no matter how many billions they threw at it, they still wouldn't win.

Did anyone else notice the season after we won the league we were given extremely tough fixtures against mostly the top 6 either side of our Champions League matches? All mostly moved for TV too. Liverpool away, Man Utd away, Chelsea away, Spurs away... All before our first 4 Champions League group matches. The 6th was followed by Man City at home. Our R16 first leg was followed by Liverpool at home. The Everton away match before Atletico was moved to a Sunday afternoon for TV for no good reason. And then the following season, we got 4 of the top 6 in our opening 6 games. And then we had the toughest festive period too, with the least amount of time between fixtures. This season our last 3 games are Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea.

That’s it you’re into these conspiracy theory things...

Not that season. After losing Kante and a shocking summer’s recruitment (and Mendy’s injury) we lost those first three games 4-1, 4-1, 3-0.

Should make no difference, at the end of the season you play 19 teams home and away, just like everyone else. You could argue playing the Top 6 teams would have resulted in losses anyway, so we should have picked up easy points against the rest as no CL to worry about before/after.

But I also know you are probably referring to the big clubs getting "easy" fixtures (i.e. us concentrating on CL before/after playing Top 6 teams).

And let's not forget that this article is American. A country who voted Trump as their president.

Except Rory Smith, the author, is not American at all.

I don’t think the USA have a monopoly on populism

And his father is a Leicester fan.

I think most definitely there would have been collusion between the big clubs after our title win. The more challengers, the less of split when it comes to TV deals etc.

I hate the phrase 'big six', especially as it includes Tottenham, who haven't won the top flight since 1961 and whose average league position over the past 20 years is 7th .

They seem to have just tagged along with the genuine football superpowers.

Arsenal in the 'big six ?   Really??   There are teams in Conference South that have better back lines.  Plus surely it is the 'big 7' now with Wolves gracing the EPL?

Posted

The Key point is that more money is going to those in Europe therefore sustaining their involvement, the sad thing is the rest of the league allowed it to happen so if there is any collusion it would suggest they are all in it.

Sorry guys. I made us win the league when i put £100 on us to get relegated that season.

My powers are so strong, the drunken £20 bet on an arsenal win (3-0) backfired beautifully.

Articles like this make me more and more desparately wish for at least one of us 'best of the rest's to break up the party. 'The big six' is fast becoming a myth and we could see a big shift in the next few years.

The top 2 still look untouchable - not dissimilar to the situation in Spain/Germany - but the others are vulnerable for various reasons. And the chasing pack are all still mid-transition. Not every current big-6 side will slip up, and not every best-of-the-rest side will progress, but I fully expect the gap to close and overlap over the next couple years.

We can look at conspiracies, jealousies, home team bias, top 6 bias , the "Them & Us"

Because of the Leicesters,Wolfbergs,Leipzigs Athletico-Madrids.....maybe Watford or Wolves.

I believe in  the circle of life....In the past the Spurs the Manutds,The Leeds,The Man.citys,The Newcastles, and the Scousers have had their scrapes...

Arsenal over all these years..are still the only in England a real top 8 club....next Liverpool, the rest just take the odd period visit....

Man city is a new top power, not yet (like leeds) a European power...let's see after PEP.G.  How long their high finances last, without top European trophies...

So it's an article written in modern times...let's see in 8-12 years,if the conspiracy of the same top 6 sticks...

Idiots at different times have lit up their cigars...their nonchalant arrogant ideas like their top notch Havanas...burn out!!!

What other Leagues do has always been interesting..but the English fan, still likes his Roast beef yorkshore pudding served at home..

ditto for other fans,through Europe.

Maybe instead of this big 5 or 6 leaving, maybe teams in all top divisions kick out the big x teams from the leagues. A giant GFY.

If we cant compete why bother making them richer. Let them all circe jerk themselves to death in a giant european league like they want and see how long that lasts when united and chelsea are bottom of the league often.

I recognize it could/ would kill things in leagues but where is it getting teams now. Its impossible  to compete against these guys anyways without caps so why bother?

Yes much could be wrong with the above but fck the "big clubs"

Must be the town they live in didn't lose half their manufacturing jobs to China and Mexico. But that's for the other thread.
