Seems strange that we'd be interested in a 23 year old who scored 1 in 2 in the Conference last season and was let go by Colchester two season a go.

Must be for the development squad.

No stranger than us buying a 25 year old Vardy from the Conference

It is- we were Championship at the time and he'd just smashed 30 goals that season.

We were a Championship side at the time so our "barrier to entry" was lower.

Also Vardy was almost a goal a game man whilst at Halifax and Fleetwood.

Just read this on Vardy's wiki page and I assume he's met those add ons. :D

On 17 May 2012, it was announced that Vardy would be signing for Championship club Leicester City ahead of the 2012–13 season, for a reported fee of £1 million, a non-League record, which could potentially be worth up to £1.7 million with add-ons

Bonne has scored 20 odd in the last two season, its  a low risk transfer that may or may not work out.

Much in the same light as taking Vardy and Mahrez, which at the time were also low risk.

So just because we are PL we shouldn't be looking for possible gems from low leagues.

He's 24 in October and was the third highest scorer in the National League and about 10th highest on goals per minute.

It's highly likely he'll never be good enough for PL football. If he was 18/19 then fair enough but if you're approaching your mid 20's and still at that level then you'll probably never be good enough.

Bonne has been in professional football with Colchester for six years . Vardy is the exception rather than the rule and if you look at Vardy's career path before we bought him he wasn't in professional football failing year in year out to progress.

All I know is that I guided Colchester up through the leagues in FIFA 17 and Macauley Bonne didn't get anywhere near my Colchester side. And this is coming from a manager who likes to give youth a very fair crack of the whip.

Had a very poor 2nd half of the season according to my Orient supporting mate, also this is just a re-hash of our supposed interest back in December/January. The fresh links aren't from a reputable source.

So you think player development is linear?

For 95% of players it broadly is.

How many footballers playing today were playing non league football at 23 and are good enough to play for us now?

The lad may have improved but looking at his stats he didn't excel at National League level so I doubt he'll ever be good enough for us now he's getting into his mid 20's.

I doubt we'd be interested to be honest. If he moves anywhere it will be to top end league one or lower Championship.

i hope he doesn’t have any disciplinary issues. i’d hate for him to be left home alone when we go on tour.

I never liked any of the home alone movies.

Classic modern day Leicester signing this,  buy for x, year or two in dev squad then sell for y.

And hope out of all of them we will get the occasional Barnes or Chillwell.
