We finished last year playing 3 in midfield. Maddison, Tielemans and Ndidi. So assuming we stick with that, we have Hamza, Mendy, James, and King as back up. The latter two are not good enough for a squad place any more. Mendy would do a job in Ndidi's role, as would Hamza who could maybe replace Youri or Madders but it would change the dynamic of the team as he isn't like for like. Not to mention, Ndidi probably isn't going to make the start of the season given AFCON, so lefts say we replace him with Hamza. We will literally have Mendy covering 3 CM roles, Two of which are attacking no.8 type positions. 1

However, I think it's been left too late in the day now, if the board sold him now there would be a full on mutiny and I don't think they would be prepared to suffer that given the fans are already on their back due to lack of spending. I might very well end up with egg on my face but if this was going to happen I think it would have had to have happened much earlier in the window. 1

He's a bit different, we've already spent £3.5m this window on a LB which says to me he's Tierney's replacement as we don't tend to spend that sort of money on back-up players. Tbh all the Tierney stuff has really caught me by surprise this window as I thought out them all he'd be the last one to go this summer but it seems the club are prepared to do business if his valuation is met (£25-30m up-front) and it's then down to him to decide. If he does leave I really hope he doesn't go to those penny pinching, shithouses Arsenal. Yeah he'd be a great player for you guys, he's such a good technical footballer and is the ideal type of midfielder for a Rodgers side. When we play in Europe against the real top sides he's the one that always stands out as he's so technically good and so aware of what's going on round about him. Has no obvious weakness in his game and can do everything to a good standard. He's also very versatile and can play the 6, 8 or 10 role in midfield all equally effectively. 2 2
