Did we really only pay £3m for him? If so that has to be one of the best purchases we have made in the last 10 years.

Man Utd pay £80 million for our second best defender, our best defender being the guy they sold 4 yrs ago for a suggested £6m plus add-ons. (Undisclosed fee)

Long may the line of continuing bargain amazing central defenders continue.

Used to do it with Walsh then Elliot and Taggart. Then in all this time, we bought Wes for 1 million, then found Was to partner him, then when we got promoted we got Huth and now Evans.

And Man Utd, who are struggling, having to way overpay on Maguire and moaning about the lack of defensive leadership used to have him on the books, as Captain!

What IS the crack that they smoke up there?

Seriously good buy. Very shrewd business. Amazing that West Brom left a clause that saw him leave for just £3m.

Hilarious too that we paid that in 2 instalments!

you are Joshing me?!?

2 instalments of £1.75m. And I'm pretty sure we could pay that whenever we wanted.

They rejected a bid of £21m from us the window before!

Was it the same window we bought Maguire? Would we have bought Maguire if we had bought Evans?

Reading that Mail article,  we got Evans, Ricardo and Maddison that window.  Were able to get all 3 for the around  price we paid for Tielemans this window,  What a nice bit of business that was.

Evans becomes Leicester's second signing of the transfer window following the £22m arrival of Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira.

Leicester are also leading the race to land highly-rated Norwich playmaker James Maddison in a deal worth around £20m.

Everton and Fulham are also said to be interested in the England under-21 international but Maddison is believed to prefer a move to Leicester to be closer to his family.

What if Evans gets injured? :nono:

He does seem to pick up knocks here and there

That's the concern. I think Wes could step in for a couple of games and do really well (see after Maguire's sending off at Burnley) but we need another one to feel secure, I reckon.

I'm full of praise for Caglar's performance yesterday, and I think it was fully earned.  But I don't think it's a coincidence that there's a recurring them for all of CBs looking their best - it's when they're paired with Evans.  He's not a guy whose name is going to get called very often on TV, but he's a rock back there - he makes his partner's job so much easier.  Really an incredibly valuable player for us.

Had to share this….

A good mate of mine (we were best man for one and other)…. He’s a gobby git and a Man Utd fan (one of the rare breed actually from Manc) ….

Of late i’ve been bombarded with quotes and tweets about how good HM is…. All very amusing/ tedious

I pointed out that he was probably our second best defender after Evans…

”Why isn’t Gareth Southgate picking him then, eh???”

i’ll be dining out on this for years….

It's the same with Wes..

Shocking that he's never been called up!

Can poor old Evans be given a few days off now? Surely a break v Geordies and Wigan is due

Pack him off to Tenerife with Jet2 together with his family for a week of sun, synthesiser cabaret and hotel bingo

Fantastic player

His mature approach and the way he calmly manages the defense has brought on Söyüncü massively. Hopefully behind the scenes he's doing the same with Benković as we need a succession plan.

I am also worried about the amount of knocks he gets. I hope our physio team works doubly hard on him.
