I met him too, in 2002, and he could not have been more of a hero if he'd tried. Would not discuss himself, we discussed his next door neighbours from Leicester, as their grandson went to school with me.

 

It helped that I'm a musician from Leicester called John...he lamented the LSO in 1999 a little, as the 'A' team wasn't playing, so some of the section principals weren't involved, my former teacher included.

The woman above Matt Elliott looks like Linda Lewis who was married to Family bassist Jim Cregan and was once photographed in City kit with Frank Worthington but it seems a tenuous connection.

My god…. That’s mental…  she is the singer on one of my all time favourite soul tracks…. Always assumed she was American!

 

Lyrics are great “I dig my mans company but three or four more would do…. just for variety”

 

EDIT- would love to get a proper copy of that picture…. Would frame it and put it up!
