A tribute to Esteban Cambiasso and his final stand with Leicester City

Was last night showing my son videos of his last game v QPR. He was there but only very young so doesn't really remember it.

Remember the goosebumps when he scored his final goal in that game and bowed to the crowd, the whole ground singing his name nearly all match. Watching him away to Stoke was fantastic. On a different wavelength.

Fantastic player, feel privileged to have watched.

Remember him being a guest at a match a few seasons back and he seemed to be genuinely moved by the ovation we gave him at half time.

Dont remember another ex-player getting that sort of appreciation. Claudio would but not many others.

Wears a ****ing Leicester City jacket around the house.

And not even just something he had lying around from his one season here: it's one from the current ****ing season.

He's magic.

Where is this from?!

One of my fave moments ever. Cherry on top of what had been a miraculous couple of months.

Didn't think it would, or could get any better than that moment he smashed it in and bowed to the crowd.

I also remember being outside Sincil Bank in July and seeing he had chosen to move on. I thought that was relegation confirmed before the season had started!!

Like Kante, a legend despite just 12 months (if that!) here.

Sorry to be a pedant, however I didn’t think SCB were our training kit sponsors anymore, so that isn’t this seasons is it? Most likely last seasons.

Still a great picture and bloke...

You know I was reading a comment by Alan Smith yesterday about his final game at Leicester on sky sports and felt quite pee’d as it came across that he saw Leicester as a stepping stone before his “big move”. Add to that Mahrez comments from last year. You get guys who don’t really (or it doesn’t really come across) appreciate what this club did for so many careers.

Than you see this. The most decorative player in our bloody history. The guy who in his trophy cabinet can sit across the room of all these other ex-players who seem to forget Filbert Street/The KP was the ground on which the world first recognised them and roll out half of his trophy cabinet and have more to show than all of them put together, is a Leicester fan.

The class of the man. Please be a great manager and please, one day come back to lead us to great things. He is bloody magic!

You can’t compare Cambiasso to Kante. One was an unbelievable player who didn’t have to come to Leicester, and still loves us now, even after all he achieved with other clubs.

The other was fantastic, world class in that season and the following one with Chelsea. But his desperation to get out as soon as possible has cost him his chance to be remembered in the same bracket as Cambiasso in terms of world superstars, not just Leicester. Had Kante stayed with us for another year, he’d be at Barca or Real and would be hands down the best midfielder of a generation. Now he’s not even Chelsea’s best player.

Kante is probably the least likeable Leicester ‘legend’ to be honest - if you take a real view on it and not one that the media love to swing it round as because he has a nice smile.

Looking at it though it was absolutely the correct decision to leave us for Chelsea. He has gone on to win another Premier league, Fa Cup,  Europa league and a World Cup. Also been on the losing side in 2 other domestic cup finals.

Who knows what would have happened had he stayed, he could have sustained a serious injury, his form could have nosedived like a majority of our squads did after the title win and the opportunity to move may had never materialised again.

He gave up Champions League football to go to Chelsea. We might've gone further than a quarter final had he stayed.

And so we might never have signed Ndidi.

All this Ngolo stuff is hypothetical, he did more than enough for the Club and will always be one of our best ever players and a major part of our most legendary team.

You are correct, it's last seasons 18-19, but still...

His goal at Everton remains my favourite, not sure why. Just love it.

The West Ham one for me just the sheer importance and quality of the goal. In the game that kick started something special 😍

That was a beauty, same as the goal at QPR.

I never quite 'get' the Cambiasso love in. He was decent for us but nothing more and was only here for a year. I'm not trying to be controversial just expressing an opinion
