Not really he's our Ricardo replacement. I bet we buy another left back in the next window or 2 before Chilwell is sold.

 

I think the club has learnt their lesson from the Mahrez situation and are trying to get the replacement in and part of the club before we sell. 

 

It's the only way we can maintain our level.

In respect of their careers they don’t need to move yet but if their agents need a big wedge now then they will push for a deal and unfortunately we will be in a maguire situation where we will set a price and see what happens

Which says a lot about Pogba, he should be the one to build the team around, but he just adds to the disfunction, seemingly a disruptive influence and vastly overrated, nowhere near as good as he’s made out to be, look at what his fellow countryman Patrick Viera did at Arsenal, that’s what Pogba should be.

I’m always amazed at how eager some fans are to ‘cash in’ on our players. 
 

Chilwell is first choice leftback for us and England, runs up and down the wing all day, defends well, is good in the air. And he’s only 22.
 

The big clubs aren’t mugs - they’re interested for a reason.
 

Yes, he doesn’t have a great final ball - but if he did, he wouldn’t be playing for a club like Leicester! There can’t be many better left backs in the league right now. 
 

What’s the plan here? Sell him for £60m+, strengthen our rivals, spend half of it on replacing him with a worse player?

When Barcelona or Juventus express interest I will be more convinced . Man. Utd. are terrible judges of players these days (does Ferguson have a say anymore?). Stop reading

What so because Chilwell isn't good enough for Barcelona or Juve he'll never be considered good enough?

 

He's a victim of the hype that people have given him. The same people that are no slaying him.

 

He always has been - and likely always will be - a very solid left back at Premier League level. Probably in the top 4 in the division.

 

Boils my piss that some Leicester fans don't think that's good enough.

Absolutely mate, it's like people think, young, talented, dynamic, attacking minded, English, home grown (yes that is a factor now we are aiming for top 4) left backs grow on trees

Chilwell is in "bad" form, yet in the last 2 games he has an assist against Newcastle, and took on the best attack in the league against Liverpool, with no goals coming from his side of the pitch as he was dealing with Mo Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold, with limited cover from Maddison. Imagine how good he'll be if he actually gets into "good" form.

The thing is if Ben was playing for any other club, most on here would be very unimpressed . Don't blind yourself to his current poor form . He is a lot better than his current standard of course , but at the moment the question is does he deserve to be in the starting eleven.

I’m not a massive hater of his so don’t get me wrong but the reason no goals came down the left was because they were wasteful and not because of Chilwell. I’m sure they blazed over twice at the back post, Mane also hit the side netting down his side.

Pretty sure every player who has ever played for Leicester (apart from maybe Kante and Mahrez) would fail that test.

I'm not frustrated with his defensive work, it's all those wasted crosses and so many when he isn't even challenged. Imagine when he improves his crossing, we could be a top 3 club.

He's not playing anywhere near as badly as some are making out. He's also not as good as some are making out. The truth always lies somewhere in between. Definitely needs to improve his end product. This is his 3rd season as first choice left back, and 1 goal and 7 assists is not enough for someone that gets into so many good advanced positions. Worth persevering with though. The fact that Klopp was sniffing around a couple of years ago shows that he has Andrew Robertson type potential.

This place beggars belief some times. So many people on here quite willing to criticise and to sell Chilwell, I’m sure being many of the same people who used to praise Amartey’s very average performances to the hilt!

He got nutmegged when the ball came off the corner flag, the cross led to their first real opportunity, and a very poor miss.

The same reason we sold Harry Maguire for a world record fee. Sometimes it's the right time to move a player on. Chilwell's current ability as an attacking full back compared with other players at the top of the game would show quite a disparity but given the huge amounts of money domestic teams will pay for homegrown players we could find ourselves in a situation where Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea want him for £60-70m. That money would be ridiculous for a full back that doesn't score goals, has only a modest record of providing assists and really struggles to operate in the final 3rd with most of our wingers and most certainly can't do it on his own when we play a narrow 4-3-3 like for example Ricardo does on the other side. The money we would get would be redeployed in progressing this side like Dortmund often do.

 

I think he will be the one player out of all our young stars that we would be most open to doing a deal on for a huge fee. Of course there will be others that might go for more money or will be more courted by the elite sides but we have proven we won't become embroiled in a fire sale.

We could also find ourselves not being able to sign foreign talent if we brexit. It could be work permits galore even for EU players with many not qualifying.

 

I think it's best we hang on to our English contingent for now.

What do you mean , a club like Leicester , we are not Burnley or Bournemouth , Leicester is one of England's biggest cities and among them only Leeds and Newcastle are also one club towns!
